Scarborough: Cruz Campaign 'Over!'

February 23rd, 2016 9:24 AM
Mark it down, said Joe Scarborough. Okay, done. On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough repeatedly, emphatically, declared that Ted Cruz's campaign is "over." The campaign ended, said Scarborough, when Cruz lost evangelicals in South Carolina to Trump, despite the Donald's praise of Planned Parenthood. Scarborough let it be known that he would have voted for Jeb Bush, and also admires John Kasich.…

February 23rd, 2016 2:08 AM
The newly heralded liberal comedy host Samantha Bee resumed her vile trashing of conservatives on Monday’s Full Frontal as she declared, among many smears, a pie chart of South Carolina Republicans to be “a NuvaRing of bigotry,” Ted Cruz “once killed an abortion doctor through prayer” and that America was crippled under Ronald Reagan’s presidency. In addition, Bee went on an extended rant…

With Donald Trump winning on Saturday night in South Carolina, the liberal pundits of MSNBC commenced their latest efforts to tie Trump’s views and questioning President Barack Obama’s religion to the rest of the conservative movement as Andrea Mitchell whined that the collective GOP “is looking for is anyone who will absolutely be crude and rude and take on Barack Obama.”

On Friday's Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN, correspondent Randi Kaye filed a report recounting her discussions with mostly young evangelical Christians in South Carolina as she asserted that the group she spoke with think GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz is "against the teachings of Jesus" on the issues of "poverty, war, and how to treat strangers." What’s with shows actually portraying Christians in a positive light this week? After You, Me and the Apocalypse had a Catholic priest beautifully minister to a man in need, Last Man Standing had a nice message about Jesus’s love.

You will LOVE Rob Lowe's Christian Response to a Man in Crisis

NBC's new show about the end of the world, You, Me and the Apocalypse, is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to morality. In reality, much of the questionable material wouldn't be Earth shattering (pun intended) were the show on at a later time. But let's give credit where it is due first.

BBC News Sportscaster Stays True to Faith, Never Works a Sunday

February 14th, 2016 7:30 AM
One of the raps on secular news journalism is that folks in the profession tend to be markedly areligious if not irreligious, compared to the general population. But there are notable exceptions. Here's one I came across last week from across the Pond.

MSNBC's Reid Suggests Cruz Would Create Evangelical 'National Church'

February 13th, 2016 12:06 PM
Welcome to the official Evangelical Christian Church of America, brought to you by President Ted Cruz . . .   That's the scare-mongering scenario that Joy Reid painted on MSNBC today. Reid alleged that as president, Cruz would "ignore" the part of the Constitution prohibiting the establishment of a national religion. She in essence falsely accused Cruz of planning to establish evangelical…

Bill Moyers: Ted Cruz a ‘Brute’ With a ‘Forked Tongue’

February 12th, 2016 9:35 PM
Former PBS fixture Moyers recently touched on Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth, but not with an eye toward whether or not Cruz is eligible for the presidency. Rather, it was to contrast Canada-born hockey enforcer John Scott with Cruz, who’s “another kind of enforcer.” Each has a large and enthusiastic following: fans voted the journeyman Scott into this year’s NHL All-Star game, and Cruz, of course,…

WashPost Uses Gay Advocate/Priest to Nudge Pope to 'Reform' Church

February 7th, 2016 8:17 AM
When The Washington Post took up publicizing a priest coming out of the closet as gay – in Chicago – it strangely put it on the front of the Metro section on Monday. You can be sure someone wanted that on the front of the whole paper. The headline was a quote: “I’m gay and I’m a priest, period.” The subhead was “Catholic clergy grapple with whether to come out in the Pope Francis era. The Post…

HBO's Maher Aims More Crass Name Calling at Cruz and Trump

February 6th, 2016 1:21 PM
On Friday's Real Time show on HBO, host Bill Maher repeatedly used crude name-calling to go after GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz. After calling both Cruz and fellow candidate Donald Trump "two a******s" in the opening monologue, Cruz was implied to be a "slimy, burrowing, repulsive animal" during a joke campaign ad attacking famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil. And, in the regular "New Rule"…

February 6th, 2016 11:33 AM
Washingtonian magazine hyped how "the Catholic Church is selling Northeast DC to developers" in a story in its February 2016 issue. Jeffrey Anderson played up how "Church organizations have been profiting by developing or selling their properties" in the area near the Catholic University of America over the past several years. However, Anderson failed to give any background regarding the Church…

Kimmel Mocks GOP, Evangelicals With Jesus Skit

February 3rd, 2016 3:25 PM
Upon Ted Cruz’s victory in Iowa this weekend, late-night comedy host Jimmy Kimmel  took the opportunity on Tuesday to mock Cruz and the Evangelical voters who voted for him. After remarking that GOP candidates like Cruz had been going “out of their way to talk about the Bible and their faith,” Kimmel wondered how it would look if Jesus himself had been running for President saying some of the…

Pundit: Cruz Thinks He’s the ‘Next Best Thing to the Second Coming’

February 2nd, 2016 9:46 PM
Much of the left is obsessed with the religious right’s supposed obsession with sex. Exhibit number whatever was Marcotte’s Tuesday piece in Salon about Ted Cruz’s win in Iowa’s Republican caucuses. Marcotte alleged that Cruz’s supporters in the Hawkeye State featured “a veritable rogue’s gallery of every creepy straight guy who claims he loves Jesus but has his eyes fixed firmly on the crotches…
