Having missed Tuesday’s primary results coverage due to his wife Kathleen losing her Maryland congressional race, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews returned with a vengeance on Wednesday to accuse Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz of having “given up on his brain” in fighting Donald Trump and joked that Cruz is a bigamist for his many political “marriages.”

An April 17 Associated Press story reported that "Just 6 percent of people say they have a lot of confidence in the media." AP writers Carole Feldman and Emily Swanson complained that "perceptions of inaccuracy and bias, fueled in part by Americans' skepticism about what they read on social media." Late Wednesday afternoon, GOP presidential nominee Ted Cruz announced former presidential candidate and Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his potential running mate. Even before Fiorina came on stage, liberal journalists and pro-abortion groups logged onto social media to mock the pair’s appearance, policies and lack of “experience in office.”

In the first few minutes of his return to MSNBC on Wednesday afternoon after his wife Kathleen finished a distant third in her Maryland congressional race, Hardball host Chris Matthews branded himself quite the hypocrite as he repeatedly harped on the fact that Ted Cruz running mate Carly Fiorina “is a three-time loser” in her political career and thus “pathetic.”

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry battled with Whoopi Goldberg on Wednesday as The View co-host demanded to know if the Republican agreed with “nasty” Ted Cruz on the issue of gay rights. The segment grew uncomfortable as Goldberg demanded, “Ted Cruz has made also some very —  if you're gay —  really uncomfortable, nasty things.” 

On Wednesday, NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning agreed that the Republican primary race was “over” and openly mocked Donald Trump’s opponents. On Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie asked: “So Trump is calling himself the presumptive nominee.
