The Internet’s biggest video hosting site can delete your account if your use of its service is no longer deemed “commercially viable.” YouTube posted a terms of service update of new policies to take effect on December 10, 2019. One of the new rules states that “YouTube may terminate your access, or your Google account’s access to all or part of the Service if YouTube believes, in its sole discretion, that provision of the Service to you is no longer commercially viable.”
CNN can’t even tell people whether naming the whistleblower is illegal. But tech companies are now the judge and jury for the common user. Facebook and YouTube announced that they would delete content that named the whistleblower whose story inspired the Democrats to launch an impeachment inquiry on President Donald Trump. A Facebook spokesperson told CNN on Nov. 8 that “[a]ny mention of the potential whistleblower’s name violates our coordinating harm policy, which prohibits content ‘outing of witness, informant, or activist.’”
The left has been pressuring Big Tech companies to change their ad policies in preparation for the 2020 election. The Wall Street Journal reports that Google is considering following the footsteps of Twitter when it comes to changing its political ad policies.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was forced to eat a slice of humble pie after she lost a lawsuit over free speech. The far-left Democrat apologized Monday for blocking one of her critics on Twitter, and as the Wall Street Journal summarized, she “agreed to settle a First Amendment lawsuit that challenged her practice of barring people from her account.” WSJ recounted how this particular lawsuit lawsuit filed back in July accused Ocasio-Cortez of “trying to suppress views contrary to hers in violation of the First Amendment.”
A study funded by grants from liberal billionaire George Soros claimed that conservative news outlets and figures amplified xenophobic and hateful “attacks” against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). The authors of the Social Science Research Council study found that there was “a social media narrative of manufactured outrage that was disproportionately Islamophobic, xenophobic, racist, and misogynistic.”
Twitter banned all political ads on its platform, to the applause of the left. But now the left wants more. Democratic Party presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) tweeted that Twitter “need[ed] accountability” when it came to climate change ads.
Too scared to show their faces? Apple and TikTok chose not to appear at a congressional hearing where political leaders took them to task. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Chairman of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, hosted a hearing titled “How Corporations and Big Tech Leave Our Data Exposed to Criminals, China, and Other Bad Actors.” on Nov. 5.
The Heritage Foundation released a video that blasts the biggest video platform on the net for alleged censorship.This video is “the first public acknowledgment of a months-long, behind-the-scenes dispute” between the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation and Google partner organization YouTube, reported Axios.
Twitter has finally decided to ban accounts linked to Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah and Palestinian terrorist group Hamas from its platform. The official account of the Hezbollah TV station, Al Manar TV, and the official account for Hamas’ Al-Quds TV were both suspended, as far back as November 2.
Two tech companies have allegedly declined to testify at a hearing held by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) about their dealings on China. Liberals think any advocacy for freedom of speech that does not benefit them merits punishment. Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton is ready to crack down on Facebook. At a Netflix event for the documentary “The Great Hack,” Clinton addressed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg from the stage, ominously saying that he should “pay a price for what he is doing to our democracy.” She also hinted that there was a link between Facebook’s meetings with Tucker Carlson and Breitbart.
President Trump’s dangerous Twitter. That was the paper’s overriding obsession in Sunday’s edition. The enormous story launched on the top half of the front page and jumped to a special 10-page section, “The Twitter Presidency.” The timing is apt, considering the paper is pressuring Twitter to be better than Facebook and actually squelch political messaging as the 2020 campaign nears. One reason why Trump’s tweets are under attack was this line, which appeared in print over a graphic of 5889 little rectangle shapes representing Trump tweets (an undeniable wise use of time, energy, and ink): “Since he became president, the most frequent targets of his ire have been Democrats, investigations and the news media.”
