Sunny Hostin: Mueller's 'Caught a Lot of Witches and Warlocks' in Russia Probe

May 17th, 2018 10:50 PM

On Thursday's The View, the liberal majority fulminated against Rudy Giuliani suggesting on Fox's The Ingraham Angle that the Mueller probe has accomplished nothing and should wrap it up. Sunny Hostin lamented "He says this is a witch hunt, and it's caught a lot of witches and warlocks! There’s been 75 charges already, 22 people have been indicted so, the suggestion somehow that the Mueller investigation isn't finding anything is nonsense." So Mueller doesn't actually have to convict anyone of anything?

We learned that Mueller prep sessions before show time on The View are conducted by Hostin, who clearly has picked sides and decided Team Trump is guilty of treason:

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So what's interesting about all of that is when -- when it was thought that maybe Hillary's group had gone and looked for dirt on him [as if she didn't?], it was just -- it was a terrible thing, a horrible thing, and now it's okay. Now that it's him, it's okay because it's just what you do. But what do you think? It's kind of interesting.

SUNNY HOSTIN: He [Giuliani] is just lying. I mean, you can't collude and get information from the Russians and the Germans. I mean, that's treason. I just -- he just keeps on lying and lying and as an attorney, I'm listening to the lies and I'm, like, what are you talking about?

He is saying, this is a witch hunt, and it's caught a lot of witches and warlocks. There’s been 75 charges already, 22 people have been indicted so, the suggestion somehow that the Mueller investigation isn't finding anything is nonsense, and I'm so tired, Whoopi, of people saying, collusion, collusion, collusion. Collusion is not a crime, everyone. There's no enumerated crime for collusion, but the crimes are obstruction of justice and treason, and conspiracy, they're all out there. I have got to tell you when you have 75 criminal charges filed already, you can't say that this is a big nothingburger. It's just not right. [Applause]

SARA HAINES: We talked about opposition research and Hillary, and I actually think across the board we should make it illegal to ever have anyone outside of this country giving opposition research. On both sides. I just think that it's an involvement on some level in our democracy, whether it’s justified in someone’s mind or not, I think it should be illegal.

JOY BEHAR: If they took the money out of politics, it would help a lot.  You can't even run a campaign without all sorts of money, and where there is money, there is dirt very often. That's not a good idea either.

HAINES: You mean, like, lobbying?

BEHAR:  All that. I don't like that.

MEGHAN McCAIN: They tried that. People like money in politics.

BEHAR: That would solve so many problems.

McCAIN: Listen, my whole freaking childhood was spent hearing about campaign finance reform!

It's like this panel never heard of Fusion GPS and  how the Clinton campaign paid them to hire a British spy to dig up dirt from the Russians. ABC News hasn't used the words "Fusion GPS" since January 9 of this year.

A few moments later, Goldberg read a Thursday morning tweet from Trump about the FBI having an informant inside the Trump campaign. But they couldn't possibly imagine that was anything more than a crazy conspiracy theory. See Mollie Hemingway's latest on the New York Times trying to handle this story. Mollie could bring some education to The View!
