ABC News did the right thing in firing long-time correspondent Terry Moran after it became painfully apparent to executives that he was far too comfortable with publicly flaunting his left-wing hate while enveloped in the protection of the network’s banner. This standard needs to be applied to the other festering problem for the ABC News brand: The View.
The legacy product of storied ABC reporter Barbara Walters, meant to feature smart discussion from accomplished women with different points of view, has become a laughing stock of uninformed political hot takes and a megaphone for some the worst of partisan venom coursing through America’s body politic.
Clips are passed around on social media as the hosts are called out and ridiculed for their sycophantic adherence to Democratic Party dogma and refusal to seriously consider opposing viewpoints; to the point that they have yet to have an actual conservative guest since August 2024.
It’s been reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger and network executives warned The View co-hosts to pull back on the overheated political discussions. And it’s been reported that the co-hosts rejected that request and were pressing on with their unchecked hate. A rebuke that could lead the show to open the network to liability again.
While each co-host was a different degree of awful, nearly all deserved to have the Terry Moran Standard apply to them. Particularly after they refused to tone down their inciting rhetoric after the two attempts to kill President Trump. In fact, a NewsBusters study found they were 100 percent negative against him the week following the second attempt on Trump’s life.
Whoopi Goldberg
As the moderator of The View, Goldberg has the extra responsibility to be a moderating force on the rest of the panel. But she’s not.
In the run up to Election Day 2024, Goldberg tried to use fear as a motivation tactic and claimed - without evidence - that Trump was going to outlaw interracial marriages and redistribute the white spouse. She also attacked Trump’s young grandkids for daring to “humanize him.”
In 2025, she refused to include Republicans as people, claimed the cast could be deported (or anyone else), claimed - without evidence - that Trump rigged the 2024 election, and she’s twice admitted that the show is just a platform to push the Democratic view. She also recently proclaimed that it was worse to be black in America than it is to live in Iran.
Joy Behar
Behar is one of the more hate-fueled co-hosts of the show. She’s said wheelchair-bound Republican Governor Greg Abbott should be mocked for his wheelchair, proclaimed that she wouldn’t give a Trump supporter a kidney even if they were friends, and insisted that Trump was threatening to kill the families of GOP lawmakers behind the scenes.
She also knows that she could cost ABC News some serious cash since she once apologized and begged Elon Musk not to sue after she claimed he was “pro-apartheid.”
Sunny Hostin
The other hate-fueled co-host is Sunny Hostin. Just this month, she claimed Musk had killed nearly 300,000 kids.
Her other rhetoric leaves much less to be desired for ABC News. She claimed - without evidence - that Trump “certainly” is “guilty of insider trading;” an accusation of a crime that could open up the network to another defamation suit by Trump. She’s also leaning into violent rhetoric by complaining that today’s Democrats were not willing to “fight and die” for their rights like older generations.
At the same time when Goldberg was speaking about Iran, Hostin was suggesting that Israel didn't have the right to defend itself and wasn't allowed to bomb Iran, despite threats.
Ana Navarro
Navarro’s penchant for being the most outspoken co-host on social media opens ABC to a wider range of embarrassing moments. For instance, take her diatribe on X where she tried to defend the pardon of Hunter Biden by inventing a fictional Woodrow Wilson pardon of a man named “Hunter deButts,” which she defended by claiming an A.I. told her about it.
On the show, Navarro has made many wild and false accusations. Just days after Trump’s inauguration, she echoed Goldberg and claimed that Trump was “taking us back to 1965 before it was legal for there to be interracial marriage.” She also described the black performers at Trump’s inauguration as “trained seal[s].” In February she claimed Trump would be “banning black people” from the Super Bowl halftime show.
Sara Haines
Haines may look unassuming with her midwestern farmgirl persona, but don’t let that fool you; she’s full of hate. Particularly for pro-lifers and Catholics.
She smeared Catholicism as “a very extreme religion” and said Catholics who attend the Traditional Latin Mass are cultists. She also declared that it’s “God’s will” that pro-lifers die of cancer and that IVF pregnancies were outside the “miracle of life.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin
Oh yeah. Farah Griffin is on the show too…
To be frank. For all the effort the ABC executive put into hiring her to fill the “conservative seat” at the table, she often sounds like just another Democrat. But while she might echo them in some ways, spewing toxic hate, not so much. Being the newest cast member, she has not had the time to develop an over inflated sense of superiority and conceit to think she can get away with saying anything.
If ABC News is serious about being a place for serious and fair reporting, they need to send that message by dealing with the reputational problem on their left flank and apply the Terry-Moran Standard to The View.
