Nets Enable BLM Violence By Censoring Almost Nightly Clashes in Portland

July 16th, 2020 9:14 PM

For almost 50 days, Black Lives Matter Marxists have been engaging in almost nightly battles with federal agents outside the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon, effectively turning the streets into a war zone. Covering up the actions of the militant wing of their party, the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) hid their violence from viewers.

But in back-to-back nights, the Fox News Channel’s Special Report had pulled back the curtain as the radical mayor, who has encouraged the violent gatherings, was now demanding federal agents leave and blaming them for the violence.

“A top Trump administration official is condemning how the City of Portland is dealing with protests that have turned into nightly clashes with law enforcement, sometimes violent,” announced anchor Bret Baier at the top of the segment. “And the mayor is blaming federal forces for inciting the violence.”

After playing a soundbite of Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) bad-mouthing the federal agents, national correspondent Will La Jeunesse noted that the “comments come after federal agents used tear gas Wednesday to break up a mob of protesters at the federal courthouse.”

Ever since the recent Black Lives Matter riots started, the left and their media enablers have used the term “chemical agent” or “chemical irritant” when talking about authorities using tear gas and pepper spray. They do that intentionally to draw on connotations of despots gassing their people with poisons.

“Homeland Security claims that protesters set fire, sprayed graffiti, and assaulted police with cans, rocks, fireworks, lasers, and slingshots,” La Jeunesse noted to support the use of force to quell the violence. He also reported that one alleged assailant was charged for “assaulting a U.S. Marshall with a hammer.”

He added: “Wheeler insists that the protesters are largely peaceful and wants federal police to leave Portland altogether.”

To balance out the soundbites from Wheeler, La Jeunesse read a statement from the acting Homeland Security secretary:

Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf says that's not going to happen. Saying: “A federal courthouse is a symbol of justice. To attack it is to attack America. Instead of addressing violent criminals in the communities, local and state leaders are instead focusing on placing blame on law enforcement.”

“This isn’t the first time Wheeler has clashed with the feds. In 2018, protesters created Occupy ICE and for weeks harassed federal agents as they entered the building. Wheeler cheered them on,” he recalled. “The federal government building in Portland has long been a target for Rose City Antifa and now Black Lives Matter, who tried to set up a Seattle-style autonomous zone outside the building.”

That violence occurred two years ago to the month. And as NewsBusters’s Bill D’Agostino exposed at the time, the networks weren’t interested in reporting how Antifa was terrorizing the city either.

The censoring of Black Lives Matter violence was made possible with the sponsorships of Progressive on ABC and CBS, and Chase on NBC. Their Contact information is linked.

BRET BAIER: A top Trump administration official is condemning how the City of Portland is dealing with protests that have turned into nightly clashes with law enforcement, sometimes violent. And the mayor is blaming federal forces for inciting the violence. National correspondent Will La Jeunesse has an update this evening.

WILL LA JEUNESSE: Federal agents in Portland face not just protesters but the city's mayor.

MAYOR TED WHEELER: What I have a problem with is them leaving the facilities, going out onto the streets of this community, and then escalating an already tense situation.

LA JEUNESSE: Mayor Ted Wheeler’s comments come after federal agents used tear gas Wednesday to break up a mob of protesters at the federal courthouse.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN: We were in the street when they started gassing us. And then they pushed us from way over there in the street all the way over here.

LA JEUNESSE: Homeland Security claims that protesters set fire, sprayed graffiti, and assaulted police with cans, rocks, fireworks, lasers, and slingshots. Wednesday, the U.S. attorney charged this man with assaulting a U.S. Marshall with a hammer.

Wheeler insists that the protesters are largely peaceful and wants federal police to leave Portland altogether.

This isn’t the first time Wheeler has clashed with the feds. In 2018, protesters created Occupy ICE and for weeks harassed federal agents as they entered the building. Wheeler cheered them on.

WHEELER: To all demonstrators, I urge you to keep up this effort.

LA JEUNESSE: The federal government building in Portland has long been a target for Rose City Antifa and now Black Lives Matter, who tried to set up a Seattle-style autonomous zone outside the building. Unlike the feds, local police can't use crowd control munitions on demonstrators that have now lasted 48 straight nights.
