Nets Ignore Dem Forced to Step Down, Accused of Mishandling Rape Accusation

In the latest example of the liberal broadcast networks burying the scandals Democratic politicians, ABC, CBS, and NBC ran away at full speed from Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who was forced to step down from key posts Wednesday following accusations she mishandled a rape allegation by a female staffer. This, after they pushed aside the breaking news last week.

Democratic Congressman Sheila Jackson Lee, of Texas, is stepping down from two major roles as she fights off criticism of her handling of a sexual assault claimed by a former aide,” reported anchor Bret Baier during Wednesday’s Special Report on the Fox News Channel. “Jackson Lee is giving up the chairmanship of a key House Judiciary subcommittee. She is also resigning as chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

Lee announced her moves after receiving pressure from her colleagues in recent days. “Lee’s office denies any retaliation or mistreatment of that woman,” Baier added.

As a reminder of what Lee was accused of, here’s part of the report Fox News reporter David Spunt delivered during Tucker Carlson Tonight last Thursday (click “expand” to read):

The former Jackson Lee staffer, named Jane Doe in a lawsuit filed just last Friday, says a former intern coordinator for the caucus foundation named a man named Damian Jones. She is saying he raped her in 2015. Jane Doe says that Jones was her supervisor at the time. Doe reported the alleged rape to authorities but the investigation was inconclusive when it came to evidence. Well, when she went to tell authorities, fast forward to 2017, Jane Doe took a job with Congresswoman Jackson Lee out of Texas, who became chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

Jane Doe found out that Damion Jones was also going to be working with her again and she reported to authorities that she had a prior situation with him. Now, Jane Doe says that she repeatedly reached out to Congresswoman Jackson Lee who would not meet her.

A FoxNews.com report from last week said that Lee’s accuser claimed she was lied to about the reason she was fired. After she was told she was being fired “because of budgetary issues”, “[Jane] Doe claimed Jackson Lee had hired at least two new employees who made ‘at least the same salary’ as her since her arrival in November 2017. She also claimed two more employees were hired shortly after she was fired while another staffer received a raise.”

As the Media Research Center has extensively documented in the past, the liberal broadcast networks have no problem with burying serious accusations against Democrats to keep the party looking clean. Instead of covering Lee, they hyped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s so-called “power play” to block President Trump from delivering the State of the Union address on the floor of the House.

Jackson Lee is giving up the chairmanship of a key House Judiciary subcommittee. She is also resigning as chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. The move follows pressure from her colleagues over a lawsuit from a former employee who says Lee fired her after she complained about a sexual assault by a Foundation employee.
