To Rip Republicans, Scarborough Quotes Classic Pro-Abortion Line

March 7th, 2019 8:43 AM

Joe Scarborough loves to claim that he is still the conservative he was back in his days as part of the '94 Republican revolution. But Joe's moved left on a number of issues. And Scarborough hit a new low last night, recycling a classic pro-abortion line, tweeting: "Trump Republicans believe protecting life begins at conception and ends at birth."

As I asked when retweeting it: "what's next, Joe: 'If you're against abortion, don't have one?'"

Prompting Joe's outburst was Kirstjen Nielsen's testimony before a congressional committee yesterday at which she was unwilling to embrace Democrats' characterization of border detention facilities as "cages."

On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough praised the Dem freshmen who grilled Nielsen. But it was Mika Brzezinski who took the emotional lead. After MSNBC Republican Elise Jordan condemned "this administration's cruel and inhumane policy," Brzezinski could be heard emotionally uttering, "my God."  And as you'll see in the video clip. She seemed literally on the verge of tears as she wrapped up the segment, saying "I'm just praying" that public pressure will force Nielsen to change her policy. Brzezinski ended by reciting yet another favorite liberal line, saying that current policy is "not who we are."

Note: As Scarborough did with his "life begins at conception and ends at birth" line, liberals love to denounce pro-life advocates as hypocrites. The accusation is false, of course. Pro-life people are among the first to adopt, are famously generous in donating to children-related causes, etc. But liberals equate caring with entrusting children to the tender mercies of big government.

Meanwhile, those same pro-abortion liberals are shockingly unaware of their own hypocrisy on the issue. Last month, our Kyle Drennen caught an MSNBC correspondent praising Kamala Harris' "moral outrage" on guns. Said Harris: "when you see the effect of this extreme violence on a human body, and especially the body of a child, maybe it will shock some people into understanding . . .  we cannot tolerate a society and live in a country with any level of pride when our babies are being slaughtered.”

From your lips to Planned Parenthood's ears, Senator Harris.

ELISE JORDAN: Because of this administration’s cruel and inhumane policy.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: My God.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well and Mika, how remarkable that you had the Secretary of Homeland Security not call — she could not call a cage a cage. A cage is still a cage. And give credit to those freshman lawmakers that were questioning her. They did everything right that Republicans when they were questioning Michael Cohen did wrong. It was very impressive, wasn’t it?

BRZEZINSKI: It was. I thought we actually saw some of the star freshmen women performing yesterday.

BRZEZINSKI: You see those cages? They have roofs on them. The people are locked in there. Children too. The situation is shameful and it just seems like she lacks the ability to care about the border crisis in a real way, the border crisis caused by this White House. And I’m just praying public pressure will force her to change course. Maybe have her do her best and save these children from further heartbreak and suffering. Because that is what is happening and that is not who we are.

BRZEZINSKI: You’re watching Morning Joe. We’ll be right back.
