Morning Joe Banters on Baseball Before Calling Trump Supporters 'Quislings'—Traitors

If Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski & Co. were as outraged as they claimed to be over President Trump's handling of the Khashoggi matter, would Scarborough really have opened the show by bantering with his buddies about last night's Red Sox playoff win—for over four minutes—before turning to the news?

After the boys—finally—finished making viewers wonder if they had tuned in to ESPN, Mika Brzezinski proceeded to accuse supporters of President Trump of being "quislings," a term defined as "a traitor who serves as the puppet of the enemy occupying his or her country."

Scarborough, in the usual MSNBC spin, said "Some grim news continues out of the Middle East. And just as grim, America's response to it. A Secretary of State that seemed to bow and scrape to the Saudis yesterday, humiliating America on the world stage, much like Donald Trump did in Helsinki." Then he spat at Trump "it seems you are for sale."

Then Scarborough turned to his sweetheart and asked how her late father, Jimmy Carter's national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, would feel. "He would be staggered," she announced. Added Mika, in turn-it-up-to-11 morally-outraged mode:

"America's morally drift foreign policy in the age of Trump, and at a time when quislings meekly march in lockstep behind a morally disabled president. I don't know how you do it. It is appalling."

Scarborough matched Mika for outrage over President Trump's reaction to the Khashoggi situation, at one point declaring "I am ashamed, ashamed, ashamed."

So, was all this indignation sincere, or just virtue-signaling—that took a backseat to baseball badinage?
