Scarborough Slams MSM's 'Biased, One-Sided' Pro-Ford Coverage

October 3rd, 2018 8:29 AM

If once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence, and three times is a trend, what is five times?

Because that is the number of times that we have noted the Joe Scarborough/Mika Brzezinski duo being fair to Brett Kavanaugh. The latest came on today's Morning Joe, where Scarborough absolutely slammed the MSM's "biased, one-sided" pro-Ford coverage.

Scarborough's larger point was that the liberal media is falling into the same trap as it did before the 2016 election, when it was incapable of imagining a Trump victory. This time around, the MSM will be shocked to see improvements for Republican candidates who have been in trouble in the polls. A prime example is the Florida governor's race, where Dem Gillum has seen his substantial lead effectively evaporate.

Scarborough began by mentioning that he and Mika had recently attended a variety of events. And whereas some people there had been critical of Kavanaugh and the Republicans, others, including many registered Democrats, had criticized the Dem senators and expressed doubts about Ford's story.

Note: Scarborough did go out of his way to twice mention that he and Mika have, from the beginning, been opposed to the confirmation of Kavanaugh.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Quite a few people that we talked to, who I think a lot of them were registered Democrats, raised questions about Dr. Ford's story. Now, that's something in 24/7 news coverage, at least in mainstream media, you never hear anyone talk about. They won't talk about it. They feel that if anybody sticks their neck out and says that they disbelieve any part of her story, or if they talk about how there are no corroborating witnesses, well, they'll get absolutely slammed.

. . .

The media coverage of this has been so one-sided, it has been so biased, there has been the presumption from the very beginning that every single allegation made against the judge was true.

. . .

This is what happened during the run-up to the Trump election. Nobody would even consider the possibility that Donald Trump might win. And so they were shocked by it. Nobody has dared say--even the Republicans--that part of Dr. Ford's story might just not add up. So you have a complete absence, in the mainstream media, you have conservatives saying to each: wait a second, there's no this, there's no that, but wait. And then Donald Trump goes and he says it. And it's like lighting a keg on fire.

And I will say, not just because Donald Trump divides every day in a way that is unbecoming of a President, but because the media has also given Donald Trump a massive opening, because they've been so one-sided on this story --

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Yes. I totally agree --

SCARBOROUGH: -- that it allows him to light dynamite and blow the whole thing up.

. . .

It is one-sided. I have turned on all networks at all times and Brett Kavanaugh has been accused of being a serial rapist. A serial rapist by columnists in national newspapers calling him a serial rapist
. . .

You want to understand why Republicans in trouble are doing better in polls right now, and Donald Trump is playing into that hatred? It's because the media has dropped the ball on this from the very beginning and they've been biased. They've been one-sided. And they're once again, just like with Trump being elected, going be shocked by what they see in the polls.

MIKA: It's a good parallel.
