The media has chosen to ignore more anti-American comments from U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). In an interview May 1, Omar attacked the U.S. for being the reason why its citizens were starving and getting mowed down in the street by its socialist government regime. Her absurd and anti-patriotic comments are just the latest she’s made attacking the country she’s supposed to be serving, and ABC, NBC and CBS continued to ignore them on their Thursday morning shows, today.
I remember talking to Madam Secretary Albright and talking to her about the success of sanctions we impose around the world and how some of them have devastating effects on the actual population and not on the governments that we see as our adversaries. And she concurred with me that many of the sanctions that we impose ultimately lead to devastations—and we are seeing it now in Venezuela—and ultimately lead to having severe problems in that country, which doesn’t stabilize life for the people, and certainly puts us here in the United States at risk.
Right before this she repeatedly claimed the U.S. had imposed “devastating policies” on other Central and South American countries that led to the problems they’re facing now.
While Fox News highlighted Omar’s problematic comments Wednesday and Thursday, the big three networks have ignored them entirely.
.@IlhanMN the avg Venezuelan adult has lost 24 lbs. Babies have no medicine. Families have to walk miles in the heat to get the only meal they may have that day. All bc of the corrupt Maduro regime. Your comments are so far from the truth. Cuba and Russia appreciate your support. https://t.co/o1ADtlwrtN— Nikki Haley (@NikkiHaley) May 1, 2019
This isn’t the first time Omar has attacked the U.S. publicly in recent memory and the media has ignored it or only chose to cover it to defend her. Since she took office in January, she’s downplayed the 9/11 terrorists, attacked U.S. troops, and made several anti-Semitic comments, yet she’s not been punished by her peers in the Democrat party or shamed by the media.
What’s even more pathetic is that all three networks did reports on Venezuela Thursday but didn’t include Omar’s controversial comments. ABC’s Good Morning America did a full report on the crisis in Venezuela while CBS and NBC did briefs. Both reports highlighted U.S. Secretary Mike Pompeo saying “all options” were on the table for the U.S. to respond and intervene, which would’ve been the perfect time to note Ilhan Omar attacking the U.S. for intervening.
