FLASHBACK: Jorge Ramos Asked Beto Whether Ted Cruz Is a Race-Traitor

A look at MRC Latino's archives reveals a moment between Univision senior anchor Jorge Ramos and former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke which explains why Joe Biden might have thought he had standing to weigh in on the ethnic authenticity of others, as evidenced by his recent "you ain't Black" gaffe.

Watch as Ramos, anointed by some in media as the voice of the Latino community, asks a liberal Anglo politician to weigh in on whether his conservative Hispanic opponent in the 2018 race for the U.S.Senate in Texas, Sen. Ted Cruz, "has betrayed Latinos":

JORGE RAMOS, HOST, AL PUNTO: You have challenged Senator Ted Cruz to six debates, two of them in Spanish. Senator Cruz, with a touch of humor, has said that it would be very boring because he doesn’t speak Spanish very well. But if you won’t be able to debate with Senator Cruz, my question is: Do you believe that Senator Ted Cruz has betrayed other Latinos...other Latinos like him?

CONGRESSMAN ROBERT “BETO” O’ROURKE (D-TX): First, I think that it is very important to listen to all the people in this state. We can’t serve or represent the people of Texas if we can’t listen in their language...in Spanish or in English. We are a state- we are a country of two languages. And we need to understand- it is important to also show the respect that each person deserves in this country.

RAMOS: The question is about Ted Cruz. Do you believe that Ted Cruz has betrayed Latinos?

O’ROURKE: For example, he wants to deport the Dreamers. He wants to build a wall that will cost $30 billion at a time when we have border security. I believe that he does not represent Latinos - the people of Texas.

O'Rourke refused to take Ramos' race bait and would go on to lose by 5 points before waging an unsuccessful 2020 Democratic presidential primary campaign. Ramos, it should be noted, faced no scrutiny whatsoever for inviting an Anglo to weigh in on the ethnic authenticity of a Hispanic extraction on the basis of policy- a phenomenon that is limited to conservatives.

Actions like these are what feed liberals' belief that they own minorities and are unquestioningly entitled to their support, and what created the permission structure within Joe Biden's thought processes that manifested themselves via his "you ain't Black" remark, and are also incidental to why the liberal media is in such a rush to make the whole thing go away.
