On Monday, CBS Mornings Plus interviewed Emily Pennington, a writer, photographer, and advocate against President Trump’s recent cuts to the National Park Service (NPS), who lashed out at the Trump administration as "vindictive towards the national parks” and warned of the significant hit the parks would take in the coming month.

Monday’s CBS Mornings played the proverbial role of the skunk at the garden party by scoffing at Saturday night’s U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, cheering “several countries across the Middle East” siding with Iran and blaming the U.S. for Iranian strikes this past weekend in Israel.

MRC analysts looked at ABC, CBS and NBC’s evening, morning and magazine news programs, from June 18 (the day of the hearing) through the morning of June 23, and found there was NO coverage of the “autopen” hearings.

Media reaction to news of the U.S. bombing of critical Iranian nuclear sites was mixed at best, as evidenced by initial Saturday night coverage. Below is a compendium of some of those reactions, which ranged from plain goofy to outright awful. 

The media are trying to collect themselves in the immediate aftermath of Operation Midnight Hammer- the U.S. mission to destroy critical Iranian nuclear facilities at Natanz, Esfahan and Fordow. As we see on CBS’s Face the Nation, some have decided to do the same old thing as always and get wrecked for their efforts.

On Friday afternoon’s MSNBC’s Chris Jansing Reports, the host lamented over the Trump administration’s decision to shut down the LGBTQ support option on the National Suicide Support hotline.

MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart and Eugene Daniels welcomed Slate’s Mark Joseph Stern to Saturday’s installment of The Weekend to react to the Supreme Court upholding Tennessee’s law that bans so-called “gender-affirming care” for minors earlier in the week. As Stern would tell it, the Court refuses to block “bigoted” laws that are necessary for people to live.

President Trump recently announced that he would give Iran two weeks to agree to a diplomatic solution on its nuclear program before considering whether or not to join Israel’s campaign against it. On Friday’s edition of NBC Nightly News, Andrea Mitchell platformed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to trash the idea.

If one were only to watch Friday’s edition of PBS News Hour, they would come away with the impression that “rotten” political rhetoric is mainly a right-wing phenomenon. Washington Post associate editor Jonathan Capehart went so far as to claim Republicans are afraid “of being human” on the matter.
