It's nearly impossible to have even a short conversation with a college administrator, politician or chief executive without the words diversity and inclusion dropping from their lips. Diversity and inclusion appear to be the end-all and be-all of their existence. So, I thought I'd begin this discussion by first looking up the definition of diversity.

The liberal Guardian covered VaughnGate, arguably the most important news story of the last 48 hours. Actor Vince Vaughn was caught, on camera, meeting President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. That wasn’t all. Vaughn appeared friendly with the Trumps, going so far as to exchange pleasantries during the meeting.

In 2008, Democrats nominated for president a first-term U.S. senator with no serious legislative experience, Barack Obama. They nominated him over the long-championed, long-celebrated presumptive heir apparent to the Democratic leadership, Hillary Clinton. The most abused adjective in political reporting is the label “centrist.” It should tell you everything about the politician. Unfortunately it tells us far more about those applying the label. Reporters call Democrats "centrist" when they have an American Conservative Union score of five percent. This tells you where journalists are located on the political spectrum. In the cascade of attention swirling around the death of General Suleimani, there was another story out there - a very significant media story - that has a major impact for America. It was a press release that began this way: "IHeartMedia Extends Partnership with Rush Limbaugh." 

The media’s report card on Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes gig proved as brutal as expected. Variety called Gervais’ performance “tame.” The L.A. Times was even colder with its takedown. The USA Today reviewer described Gervais’ performance as “dull": "There were a few chuckles to be had, but even fans of Gervais’ harsh brand of humor would likely be disappointed."
