The Elitist Media Evening News continued their long-running freakout over FBI Director Kash Patel’s gold medal detour while in Italy on official FBI business. The time devoted to this collective freakout and whining over alleged resources steered away from fighting crime gave the media cover to completely omit another event devoted to the victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens.
Our own Curtis Houck memorialized ABC’s earlier “Kash-out” here. Pierre Thomas rehashed some of that coverage for World News Tonight, excising mentions of Nancy Guthrie and Iran because the Kash stuff was tacked on to the back of reporting on the latest attempt on President Trump’s life.
The media's freakout over Kash Patel hanging with Team USA continues. Here's @ABCWorldNews:

PIERRE THOMAS: David, the FBI is taking the lead in this investigation. FBI Director Kash Patel was in Italy during the Olympics when the incident happened. This video shows him in the locker room celebrating with the U.S. men's hockey team after they won the gold medal. Right there chugging a beer. Patel flew to Italy on the FBI jet, American taxpayers picking up the tab. Patel says he was, quote, “humbled to be invited to the locker room”, and the FBI insisting tonight Patel had official business in Italy. Officials say the trip was long-planned, and that any personal expenses would be reimbursed. David.
DAVID MUIR: Pierre Thomas in Washington. Thank you.
CBS’s Scott MacFarlane followed a similar track: Kash pounded beers with the hockey team, Kash flew the G5, Kash will reimburse personal expenses. Wash, rinse, repeat. Scottie Mac tried to stick in a Wray whataboutism, though:

SCOTT MacFARLANE: FBI Director Kash Patel posted he was dedicating all necessary resources to the investigation. But Patel himself is facing questions…for this video in which he is seen chugging a beer and celebrating with USA hockey players in Italy after Sunday's gold medal victory. Patel used the FBI's taxpayer-funded Gulfstream jet to travel to Italy. Before taking office, Patel blasted former FBI director Christopher Wray for his use of the plane.
KASH PATEL: I'm saying Chris Wray doesn't need a government-funded G5 jet to go on vacation. Maybe we ground that plane. $15,000 every time it takes off.
MacFARLANE: His spokesman said Patel had several official meetings and events before arriving at the Olympics for Sunday's gold medal match and that it wasn’t a personal trip. Congressional Democrats are already investigating Patel for his use of the government jet for several other trips, Tony.
TONY DOKOUPIL: Scott, thank you very much.
The NBC Nightly News was both more concise and more substantive, despite echoing similar themes. Contrary to his ABC and CBS counterparts, Gabe Gutierrez’ brief somewhat acknowledged the nature of the business end of Patel’s trip to Italy:

GABE GUTIERREZ: While this investigation is underway, the FBI director is facing backlash for celebrating with the American men’s hockey team in Milan. Kash Patel, a longtime hockey fan, can be seen drinking a beer and spraying it in the locker room. Also, holding the phone as President Trump addressed the players. Patel says he travelled to the Olympics to meet with his Italian counterparts, since the U.S. helped provide security. And that he was invited to celebrate a historic moment by his friends on the team. An FBI spokesperson says Patel would reimburse any personal expenses. Tom.
TOM LLAMAS: Gabe, we thank you for that.
All had time for their little Kash Patel freakout. None had a second to spare for The White House’s Angel Mom event, wherein President Trump hosted the loved ones of Americans who died at the hands of criminal illegal aliens- the sorts of deaths that the media grossly underreport unless they are shamed into doing so. Nothing whatsoever on ABC, CBS, NBC, an unfortunate par for the course.
It is not unreasonable to believe that some of this is rooted in a media Trump-deranged-contempt-by proxy for these families: a collective sense that if Trump is honoring them, they must be inherently bad. We leave you with a striking example: Seung Min Kim, of Associated Press and CNN fame, referring to the mothers of those dead at the hands of illegal aliens as “so-called Angel Moms.”
The contempt with which the media treat the parents of those murdered by illegal aliens is real and it is sick. Watch as AP/CNN's Seung Ming Kim refers to "the so-called Angel Moms" hosted by President Trump at The White House. pic.twitter.com/PkipPJj3IV

SEUNG MIN KIM: Oh, I think what- we're actually getting a little preview of kind of the theme of his address later today at The White House, when he hosts the so-called Angel Moms. So really focusing on immigration as he kicks off his big State of the Union week.
