Useless Info: CNN Says Trump Had Meatloaf, Ice Cream When Soleimani News Broke

January 3rd, 2020 1:31 PM

What is it with the liberal media losing their noodles about President Trump and food? (Pun intended, by the way). Whether it was chocolate cake, ice cream, McDonald’s, or even salt and pepper shakers, the press’s Trump Derangement Syndrome knows no bounds.

So it was no surprise on Friday morning when the press wasted our time revealing that the President had meatloaf and ice cream when news broke that a U.S. airstrike had taken out key Iranian military leader and Quds Force head Qasem Soleimani.

CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins certainly thought it was worth publishing a 213-word blog post on CNN.com as part of their live updates page on the death of Soleimani.

Filing “President Trump dined on ice cream as news of the airstrike broke” at roughly 10:13 a.m. Eastern, Collins gave us the opposite of what’s referred to in journalism as “news you can use”:

As news broke that the US struck and killed Qasem Soleimani, President Trump was dining at his Mar-a-Lago club, surrounded by old friends and others like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

As meatloaf and ice cream were served, the Pentagon confirmed that the US was behind the strikes, the only statement from the administration throughout the night.

Of course, it’s important to add “color” to a story and if, say, there was a meeting and a reporter described who sat where to provide important context, that’s actually helpful. But this? It’s a stretch.

Instead of stopping there, Collins continued with “Putting this airstrike in perspective” because, after the President bombed “Syrian airfield in the spring 2017” following Bashar al-Assad’s latest chemical weapons attack on his own people, Trump was similarly enjoying food:

“After that strike, Trump went into great detail about the chocolate cake he had with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who was there for a summit, when he informed him about the series of tomahawk missiles.

(....)

Trump later described it as "the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen—and President Xi was enjoying it.”

Business Insider picked it up within an hour, tasking Ashley Collman with the piece “Trump was eating meatloaf and ice cream at Mar-a-Lago as news of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani's assassination broke.”

So not only have the liberal media denounced, poo-pooed, and even mourned the death of this monster, they’re on the hunt to report for the public what the President had to eat Thursday night.

But tell us more about Obama’s “chiseled pecs.”
