The Atlantic staff writer David Frum joined PBS’s Amanpour and Company guest host Bianna Golodryga on Monday to react to the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and used the opportunity to relight the Doomsday beacons that signify democracy itself is under threat from a president who would seek to mess with the 2026 midterm elections.

In “NPR and PBS Must Transform After Trump’s Cuts Cripple Broadcasters,” which appeared in Sunday’s New York Times, reporters Benjamin Mullin, Jack Healy, and David Chen unwittingly justified the defunding of those taxpayer-funded media outlets that conservatives have been advocating for decades.

No one should think PBS is an oasis of civility. On PBS, Monday’s Amanpour & Co. hosted failed Georgia political candidate, and liberal media martyr Stacey Abrams to discuss her Time magazine jeremiad against the autocrat Donald Trump. The show’s introduction included a representative clip from Abrams (“We are in the midst of an authoritarian regime”) and things got no less hysterical from there.

MRC analysts looked at ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS evening, morning and Sunday roundtable news shows from June 18 to the morning of September 10 and found a grand total of 4 minutes, 2 seconds spent on the Biden mental decline hearings. 

PBS News tweeted out something unexpected from conservative Christian author Allie Beth Stuckey, author of the book Toxic Empathy: How Progressives Exploit Christian Compassion. This was the Stuckey quote they shared: "Empathy becomes toxic when it encourages you to affirm sin, validate lies, or support destructive policies.” It came from an AP article posted on PBS.
