Monday’s network morning shows all promoted former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick suing the NFL and claiming that all 32 League teams were in “collusion” against hiring him, despite a complete lack of evidence for his claims.
In a remarkable display of group think on Thursday, all three network morning shows touted North Korea hurling personal insults against President Trump as an act of “defiance” and promoted forced demonstrations in Pyongyang as a “display of unity” from the oppressed people in the authoritarian regime.
Many climate change alarmists were in full panic mode on Wednesday after scientists announced that a truly massive sheet of ice weighing 1 trillion tons and the size of Delaware had finally broken off of the continent. The fear continued during the evening broadcasts of the Big Three Networks as ABC and NBC were more than happy to contribute to the hysteria. "At the bottom of the world tonight a massive fracture on the continent of Antarctica has caused one of the biggest icebergs on record to break away into the ocean. It's so big it could fill Lake Erie twice over,” hyped Anchor Lester Holt during NBC Nightly News.
Conservative pundit Ann Coulter was set to speak at the University of California, Berkeley Thursday night but that plan was foiled by the threat of violence from radical leftists. “Now to Berkeley, California where new protests are breaking out tonight a day after conservative pundit Ann Coulter's plan to speak at U.C. Berkeley was abruptly canceled,” announced Anchor Lester Holt during NBC Nightly News that same evening. Despite the still looming threat of riots, both ABC and CBS decided to move on from the free speech controversy.
On the heels of network coverage hyping liberal fears that fake news stories shared on Facebook and across social media fueled Donald Trump’s election victory, on Friday, NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning touted President Obama pushing the issue during a Thursday press conference overseas.
Peaceful protest is a protected right in America. Trespassing on private property, tire slashing, damaging equipment, arson, Molotov cocktail-throwing and shooting at police are not acts of protest. They are crimes. Even eco-terrorism. Yet, the network news media sympathetically covered the “activists,” “protesters” and “demonstrators” in North Dakota opposing completion of the Dakota Access oil Pipeline (DAPL) — even as they grew violent.
After all three broadcast networks on Monday promoted the liberal excuse that Hillary Clinton lost the presidential race because of “fake news” shared on Facebook, on Wednesday, NBC’s Today continued to push the narrative by highlighting a “feud” within the social media company and parroting Clinton Campaign talking points blaming the social network for Donald Trump’s victory.
NBC apparently assumed the role of sore loser Wednesday on NBC Nightly News, as they pulled out all the stops in an attempt to smear President-Elect Donald Trump. First, they stoked the liberal anxiety that Trump would join the ranks of the world’s most deplorable despots, before moving on to assert that the America that elected Trump was not welcoming to minorities. “While Donald Trump's many supporters are basking in his victory, many others woke up this morning feeling disillusioned by the headlines,” sulked anchor Lester Holt.
Miguel Almaguer touted "medical aid in dying" in California on Thursday's NBC Nightly News, as the state's new assisted suicide law went into effect. Almaguer showed a clear slant towards proponents of the legislation by playing four soundbites from supporters, versus only two from opponents. He also failed to mention that one booster of the new law was involved in a lawsuit against California's state government to gain the so-called "freedom to control her death."
ABC, CBS, and NBC's Friday evening newscasts all spotlighted how "gun rights supporters, many of them openly armed" protested President Obama as he visited Roseburg, Oregon to comfort family members of the victims of the recent mass shooting there. CBS's John Blackstone played up how "the protesters gathered at the Roseburg airport carried both signs and guns – a potential nightmare for the Secret Service." NBC Nightly News featured footage of a Confederate flag flying from pickup truck of one of the protesters – something ABC and CBS didn't do.
On Friday's World News Tonight, ABC's Ryan Owens played up how Lafayette, Louisiana mass shooter John "Rusty" Houser was "politically active – even running for office as an ultra-conservative, anti-tax crusader in Georgia." Owens also spotlighted how "investigators are scouring Houser's postings on known anti-government websites – hoping, perhaps, to find some answers there."
During a live press conference in the 12:00 p.m. ET hour on Wednesday about the Chattanooga shooting, CNN reporter Aaron Cooper asked FBI Special Agent in Charge Ed Reinhold: “There's been reports that there were some personal or privately owned weapons used in responding to the shooter....Did anybody hit anyone else? Was there any friendly fire incident?”
