As NewsBusters has previously reported, ABC World News Tonight was the only network newscast to report on the latest developments in the scandal surrounding Democratic Congresswoman Katie Hill’s relationship with one of her staffers; which has led to a probe from the Congressional Ethics Committee. Like CBS and NBC, MSNBC completely ignored the news about Hill. While the other left-wing cable network, CNN, aired a report on the Hill scandal, anchor Brooke Baldwin and reporter Kyung Lah had a very hard time hiding their admiration for the freshman Congresswoman.
While the alphabet soup networks tried making excuses for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s use of the word “lynching” to describe the Clinton impeachment, CNN host Brooke Baldwin did not give him a pass. During Wednesday’s edition of CNN Newsroom, Baldwin differentiated herself from her colleagues on the other networks by actually taking Democrats to task for their past use of the word “lynching.”
When it comes to complaints of liberal bias in the news media, media personalities often, intentionally or otherwise, miss the point. We are not interested in leading any "hate movements" nor do we believe that President Trump immune from criticism, but what we do reject is what CNN Newsroom host Brooke Baldwin did her Tuesday show when she portrayed the battle between Trump versus the Democrats as the bad guys versus the good guys as if Democrats are pure in their motives and Trump represents a unique kind of threat to common decency.
To be blunt, weekday afternoon CNN Newsroom host Brooke Baldwin is the daytime version of Don Lemon. While she’s promoted as a journalist, she’s no more than a pro-impeachment and pro-Resistance partisan who accepts most everything liberal guests tell her. Such was the case on Tuesday when she lectured viewers about how raising questions about the Biden family or the whistleblower was tantamount to spreading conspiracy theories. And to back her up, she turned to none other than fired FBI official, proven liar, and CNN contributor Andrew McCabe.
As previously documented by NewsBusters, a number of shows on the major networks late last week ran with reports of a racist bullying incident at Springfield, Virginia's Immanuel Christian School that, by late Monday morning, was revealed to be a hoax. The family of 12-year-old Amari Allen admitted that their daughter made up her story accusing three white classmates of forcibly cutting her long hair.
Shortly after prosecutors recommended charges for former FBI Deputy Director-turned-CNN contributor Andrew McCabe for lying to investigators, his colleague, CNN Chief Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin, rushed to his defense during an appearance on CNN Newsroom With Brooke Baldwin Thursday. While dismissing the seriousness of the charges against McCabe, Toobin also attempted to portray him as the victim of a “vindictive crusade” orchestrated by the Trump administration.
Forever cashing in on his Watergate fame and still hailed on TV as a "Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist" (46 years ago), CNN political analyst Carl Bernstein was called in for Tuesday's CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin to analyze the ouster of National Security Adviser John Bolton and launch his typically hyperbolic analysis that "we don't have functional governance" in America, thanks to Presidet Trump.
On Monday, CNN chief national security correspondent Jim Sciutto aired a questionable story blaming President Trump for the extraction of a longtime CIA asset in Moscow. A Monday night New York Times story cast serious doubts on the reasons Sciutto cited for the 2017 extraction, but CNN has stood by Sciutto. All told, a NewsBusters tally of CNN’s live, on-air coverage found a staggering 181 minutes (excluding teases) for Sciutto’s initial report, subsequent follow-ups, and attempts to defend his allegations since it went public just after 9:00 a.m. Eastern Monday.
On Tuesday's CNN Newsroom, host Brooke Baldwin seized on a group of gun control activists who delivered a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a stunt to push for more gun laws as she gave two members of the group a forum to promote their views as guests.
During the CNN Newsroom on Tuesday Glorida Borger told host Brooke Baldwin that the reason why Kamala Harris' rising soufflé suddenly deflated following the second Democrat presidential candidate debate in July was due to hypocrisy. What inspired this observation was a CNN poll published on Tuesday that revealed a startling plunge for Harris.
During the controversy surrounding Israel's decision to bar Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar into their country, most of the media focus was on President Trump and his tweets on the subject. The media condemned him for violating the tradition that stated that politics stops at the water's edge. The notion that politics stop's at the water's edge has never been as sacred as the media hyped it up to be and Monday's edition of CNN Newsroom proved just that when they sent Clarissa Ward to Iran for no other purpose than to find some "every day Iranians" who would tell them what they wanted to hear.
On Thursday's CNN Newsroom, host Brooke Baldwin devoted almost three minutes to an effort by the liberal group MoveOn.org to rename the street in New York City where Trump Tower is located so that it would be named after former President Barack Obama -- all in an effort to "kick" President Donald Trump "in the shin," in the words of the woman in charge.
