On Monday morning, in the aftermath of a mass shooting spree in Texas from the weekend, CNN personalities were again pushing for more gun laws, including "universal background checks." CNN's three-hour New Day morning show discussed the issue in four segments, and only had guests with left-leaning views on the issue of gun control. Not only did liberal Republican contributor Ana Navarro slam the NRA and declare that she was "sick" of politicians giving "thoughts and prayers" instead of passing more gun control, CNN contributor Andrew McCabe made the questionable claim that "universal background checks" might have prevented two high-profile mass shootings as he repeated the myth of the Charleston loophole.
After President Trump got backlash over the weekend for tweeting that four Democrat Congresswoman should “go back” and “fix” their broken countries, CNN’s two hour morning show, New Day picked up the media outrage, Monday. Co-hosts John Berman and Alisyn Camerota repeatedly dared Republicans in Congress to call in to the show and call Trump a racist. Even after some Republicans did come out to condemn the President’s comments, CNN still kept attacking them for not repeating their “racism” charges against Trump.
The fate of the Affordable Care Act is up in the air at the moment. After the repeal of the individual mandate, it seems that a court battle will make its way to the Supreme Court. This gave a chance for the liberal media to fearmonger about the fall of President Obama’s signature piece of legislation.
There have been plenty of criticisms of President Trump's desire for a Fourth of July event to take place in Washington D.C. Criticisms include it being a misguided use of funds, the tanks being too heavy for D.C.'s streets and bridges, and assertions it would resemble a Soviet military parades down Red Square. On Monday, Trump raised eyebrows with his comments about "brand new Sherman tanks," but on the Tuesday edition of CNN's The Situation Room, April Ryan came up with a new objection: the purpose of the parade is so that Trump can look like a dictator.
The panel on Monday’s edition of The Situation Room obsessed over a segment of President Trump’s interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, where President Trump “becomes really angry at his Chief of Staff, Mick Mulvaney.” President Trump expressed his frustration with Mulvaney, who was audibly coughing as President Trump sat down with Stephanopoulos in the Oval Office, asking him to “please leave the room” if he had to cough again. One member of the panel, Bianna Golodryga, brought up a conspiracy theory suggesting that Mulvaney coughed on purpose so the President did not have to talk about his tax returns.
CNN New Day started their show Tuesday morning with “breaking news” that Joe Biden would be taking on President Trump in a stump speech in Iowa today. The liberal network didn’t even pretend to be neutral about this development, instead leaving a chyron up the entire segment that read, “Biden to eviscerate Trump in Iowa speech today.” The panel, consisting of former CBS This Morning anchor Bianna Golodryga, hosts Alisyn Camerota and John Berman, as well as CNN regulars Jeffrey Toobin and John Avlon, hyped Biden persuading Iowans that Trump had ridden the coattails of Obama’s allegedly successful economy and a return to Biden was a return to Obama.
In the recent aftermath of the trial in which former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor was convicted of killing an unarmed white woman, Justine Damond, after she called 9-1-1 in July 2017 to report a possible crime, CNN showed its double standard in attention given to alleged police misconduct based on the race of the victim.
Run, Stacey, run? That seemed to be the message from the hosts of CBS This Morning on Wednesday as the journalists talked to the failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate. The question of her running for president or vice president in 2020 was raised multiple times. Co-host Bianna Golodryga wondered, “During the lunch with the Vice President, did the conversation of a potential future ticket between the two of you... you being his vice president on the ticket? Did that come up?”
The journalists at CBS This Morning are not, generally speaking, tough on Democrats, especially the 2020 presidential candidates. When they offer tough questions, it’s often from the left. That’s why it was so surprising on Tuesday to see the show’s co-hosts grill Kamala Harris about the costs of her policy proposals and even the concept of federalism.
All three networks spent Thursday morning gushing in favor of New Zealand’s new gun ban, touting that it had “widespread, bipartisan support” with “very little opposition.” ABC, NBC and CBS also spent time shaming the U.S. for not adopting a similar buyback measure.
The journalists at CBS This Morning on Thursday joined the collective media gush over Beto O’Rourke’s announcement that he is running for president, falsely spinning the far-left Democrat as part of the “center.” Host John Dickerson fawned over the Democrat who is off to a “glowing start.” Reporter Ed O'Keefe even showed pictures of a dental visit O’Rourke put on social media.
After all three broadcast networks on Monday ignored the latest anti-Semitic comments from left-wing Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, on Tuesday, CBS This Morning at least managed to offer 30 seconds of air time to the scandal. The broadcast highlighted how Omar’s repeated offensive remarks have become such a problem for Democrats that House leadership has scheduled a vote on a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism.
