Former MSNBC contributor Daniel Goldman, who was recently hired as director of investigations for the House Intelligence Committee, has quite a track record of spewing anti-Trump Democratic talking points on cable television. Over the past few months alone, Goldman has used his television platform to tell viewers “that the President has committed a felony in order to obtain the office of the presidency,” and that the very act of opposing President Trump puts him on “the right side of history.”
CNN confirmed to The Daily Beast Tuesday evening that they have hired former Jeff Sessions spokeswoman Sarah Isgur to lead the network's coverage of the 2020 Presidential Campaign. In addition to working at the Department of Justice during Sessions' tenure, Isgur has also worked for Ted Cruz and Mitt Romney, while also serving as the deputy campaign manager for Carly Fiorina in 2016.
On CNN's New Day, co-host John Berman, before permitting former Trump aide Marc Short to report on his conversation with President Trump regarding the State of the Union, tells him: "you are hardly an impartial reporter here." That's not what he said to former Trump aide Cliff Sims an hour later....perhaps because he just ripped the Trumps in a new tell-all book.
CBS This Morning welcomed a new “CBS News contributor” to the network on Tuesday. Is this person there to provide partisan balance? Not really. He’s Jeff Flake. Co-host John Dickerson introduced the former Senator by prompting him on a presidential run: “Before we start, I want to find out if you want anybody to call you president. You thought about running in 2020? Are you going to run?”
Appearing on Thursday’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, aired early Friday morning, former Democratic Senator and newly-named NBC News Political Analyst Claire McCaskill was eager to trash Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as “really depressing” and “very political.” Meyers chimed in to claim that the Republican lawmaker had “no moral compass.”
CNN media reporter and TV host Brian Stelter’s hatred for President Trump and Fox News was on full display during Sunday’s “Reliable Sources”. He spent most of the show decrying the President and Fox News while relegating the disturbing and horrific revelations in the sexual misconduct allegations against former CBS executive Les Moonves to a segment during the latter half of the program.
For many years, Fox News’ ratings had been blowing competitors like CNN completely out of the water. So, it’s no surprise that CNN’s Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter would target them with accusations of ‘state-run media’ in the Trump-era. During Sunday’s edition of the show, Stelter equated the relationship between Trump and Fox News as a twisted “love story.” He even tried to re-write history by arguing there had “never” been anything like it in American Politics, which was not true.
In what appeared to be a shot across the bow of their parent network CNN on Tuesday, the panel on HLN’s S.E. Cupp Unfiltered slammed media outlets who discredited President Trump’s new White House hires because they spent time on cable news. “So is the media smearing the President's pick just to beat up on Trump or are these TV talking heads actually dangerous,” conservative host S.E. Cupp wondered.
The depths of CNN’s righteous indignation and hypocrisy showed no bounds Thursday night, as AC 360 host Anderson Cooper and reporter Randi “Kush” Kaye extensively bemoaned how Trump was bringing friendly journalist into his administration. “It's a presidency that was essentially born on reality TV, and now the lines between reality and TV may be blurring even further,” Cooper opined regarding the hire of Larry Kudlow as national economic adviser. But what about Obama’s legion of journalist staff?
CBS Evening News aired complaints about a “revolving door” of government employees going to industry roles under the Obama administration on Oct. 20. But CBS quickly seized the opportunity to attack the Trump administration.
Apparently not content with just having all of its hosts and correspondents relentlessly attack the Trump administration and the Republican Party, NBC News decided to hire Barack Obama’s former White House press secretary Josh Earnest as a “political analyst” to join in the network’s savaging of the GOP.
Longtime Democratic operative Donna Brazile being named interim head of the Democratic National Committee on Sunday following the ouster of chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz amid the DNC e-mail scandal created some awkward moments for CNN and ABC. Hosts on both networks had to explain that Brazile was stepping down as a political analyst as she took over the new partisan position.
