In two separate mediums on Wednesday, openly gay actress Ellen Page and actor Tyler Perry did their best to respectively downplay and defend the alleged hate crime hoax concocted, rehearsed, and carried out by Empire star Jesse Smollett with two Nigerian bodybuilders who had been his drug suppliers.

Jussie Smollett, Empire actor, claimed that on Jan. 29, two masked men identifying themselves as Donald Trump supporters and using racial and homophobic insults attacked him. Smollett said the assailants yelled “This is MAGA country,” bashed his face, crushed his ribs, splashed him with bleach and put a noose around his neck. ABC’s comedy black-ish (sic) celebrated black history on Tuesday’s episode, “Black History Month.” But only liberal black figures were truly celebrated while only one conservative, Dr. Ben Carson, was mentioned…and treated like a pariah. The show also depicted its white characters as ignorant and racist, as per usual.

With the Jussie Smollett story having disintegrated into tiny pieces, Saturday’s Greg Gutfeld Show had plenty of material and the eponymous host put it to good use, dubbing Smollett, Sandmann, and former CBS correspondent Lara Logan “the three horsemen of the media apocalypse” while having Kat Timpf stage a faux seminar on how journalists make headlines biased.

ABC and CBS on Monday offered sneering shots at Green Book, the Oscar winner for best picture, as not being sufficiently enlightened enough. Deriding the movie as “problematic” and “inauthentic,” Good Morning America and CBS This Morning chided it as a film that “glosses over” Jim Crow-era horrors. 

Apparently last night’s Oscars weren’t woke enough for some devout lefties. Despite jokes at the expense of Donald Trump, several mentions of the plight of immigrants, and of course some race-baiting from director Spike Lee, Daily Beast writer Kevin Fallon claimed that the show “made the case for its own irrelevancy.”  

After Mika Brzezinski teased the upcoming segment with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel by saying the show would ask him about the Jussie Smollett incident, which took place in Chicago, the panel failed to ask Emanuel a single question about the matter.

Director Spike Lee won his first Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "BlacKkKlansman" and he took the occasion to be the first one to really get political at the 91st Academy Awards on ABC.

There’s a very good reason 81 percent of Republicans have said they won’t watch Sunday night’s Academy Awards, according to a new poll. Hollywood is the Left Coast base of the anti-Trump resistance and over the years they have made their disdain for conservatives very clear.
