Catholic Priest on World Youth Day: Media Coverage Was 'Just Bizarre
August 26th, 2011 1:07 AM
I didn't go to the Catholic News Agency's web site tonight looking for a media bias column; I usually go there to find "positivity" posts for my home blog. When I clicked on an item with an intriguing title ("The Pope's Young Army"), I expected that the author, Father Robert Barron, would regale me with inspiring vignettes from the Pope's recently completed World Youth Day in Madrid.
Well, at…
Study: Tea Party Is Libertarian -- And Authoritarian
August 24th, 2011 8:23 AM
The liberal blog Talking Points Memo is highlighting an academic study of the Tea Party that somehow finds that the Tea Party is both authoritarian and libertarian (in addition to being nativist and afraid of change). How does that make sense?
Apparently, this means that Tea Party activists want a return to constitutional principles and also believe that children should listen to their…
NPR Plays Up Secularist Change In Spain, Misconstrues Papal Visit
August 19th, 2011 8:54 AM
On Thursday's All Things Considered, NPR's Lauren Frayer emphasized the trend towards secularization in Spain during a report on Pope Benedict XVI's visit to the country for World Youth Day. Just as she did almost a week earlier, Frayer couldn't find any local supporters of the Pope, and completely misreported how the Catholic Church extended pastoral support to women who had abortions.
Host…
CBS Omits Tea Partier's Face-off With Obama; Played Up 'Voter Anger' a
August 16th, 2011 1:54 PM
On Monday's CBS Evening News and Tuesday's Early Show, CBS failed to cover an Iowa Tea Party activist's confrontation with President Obama. Both ABC's GMA and NBC's Today mentioned the encounter. Just days earlier, CBS and ABC spotlighted how left-wing protesters heckled Mitt Romney at an Iowa appearance and how the Republican apparently made a "gaffe" in reply.
NBC correspondent Chuck Todd…
Leftist Protesters of Israel's Wealth Gap Capture Page One of N.Y. Tim
August 13th, 2011 6:38 AM
Reporter Ethan Bronner brought a typical liberal issue to the forefront on Friday’s front page: “Protests Force Israel to Confront Wealth Gap.” Tent-city protesters have “shaken” Israel with their call for fairly distributed wealth. Bronner never identified the protesters as left-leaning in any way. They were merely championing a cause with “strong populist resonance.”
These large protests…
NPR Spotlights Detractors of Papal Visit To Spain, Omits 428,000 Plann
August 12th, 2011 7:19 PM
NPR pretended that there wasn't a single supporter of Pope Benedict XVI in Spain on Friday's Morning Edition, choosing to devote an entire report on the "many people are grumbling at the cost" of the upcoming papal visit to the country. Correspondent Lauren Frayer not only failed to mention the 428,000 people from around the world who are registered for the World Youth Day event with the Pope,…
NewsBusters Publisher Bozell to Media: Don’t Endorse John Kerry’s
August 8th, 2011 1:10 PM
John Kerry is on a crusade to destroy the Tea Party. To blame the Tea Party for the S&P downgrade is like blaming the Betty Ford Clinic for alcoholism. The entire existence of the Tea Party movement has been based on an attempt to stop the runaway spending of Washington – by the likes of John Kerry. Any media outlet that features his outrageous blame game remarks without challenging his…
Chris Matthews Uses Dubious Historical Analogy to Tar Conservative Rep
July 18th, 2011 5:55 PM
According to Chris Matthews, conservative House Republicans who are holding steadfast on resisting a debt ceiling deal that includes tax hikes are like the apocryphal bovine of doom behind the 1871 fire that destroyed much of Chicago (video follows page break):

July 15th, 2011 6:49 PM
[Update, 11:10 am Monday July 18: Jenn Theis was identified on-screen by CBS as a "laid-off government worker." She wrote us to clarify that she was actually employed by a private business that is regulated by the Minnesota racing commission. Another guest from that segment, Chris Lapakko, wrote the author on Twitter on Saturday to call him a "dick;" see screen cap here.]

Former NY Times Reporter Egan Compares Violent Seattle 'Anarchists' to
July 15th, 2011 1:23 PM
Timothy Egan, liberal New York Times reporter turned left-wing, Rush Limbaugh-despising online columnist for nytimes.com, tried to smear fiscal conservatives in Congress as akin to the violent anarchists (actually leftists) who rampaged through Seattle in 1999 in a “protest” against the World Trade Organization, using hammers to smash windows of retail chain stores.
Egan opened his Thursday…
NPR.org Promotes 'Geek Socialist's' Boycott of News Corp
July 13th, 2011 7:41 PM
NPR's Sam Sanders gave some free publicity on Wednesday to a boycott organized online targeting Rupert Murdoch and his News Corp. Sanders spotlighted the efforts of self-described "geek socialist" Chris Coltrane, who "wants people to vote against Murdoch" due to his supposed "unaccountable power." The writer also failed to include any quotes from supporters of the media tycoon.
The radio…
A Tale of Two State Trios, and Their Comparative Press Coverage
June 24th, 2011 5:32 PM
I can't say that I'm up on what every state is doing, but it's hard not to notice contrasts between two trios of states singing decidedly different tunes:
Wisconsin, Ohio and New Jersey, three states with recently elected conservative Republican governors, have either put their budgets to bed, or are on the verge of doing so, by cutting costs and not raising taxes.
Connecticut,…
Big Gov's Taylor and King: Van Jones and His Group Organized 9/12/01 A
June 22nd, 2011 12:17 PM
At Big Government yesterday, Kristinn Taylor and Andrea Shea King compiled overwhelming evidence refuting one key element of a cease-and-desist letter sent to Fox News by lawyers for former Obama administration "green jobs" czar Van Jones. In doing so, they referenced and credited a video I posted in September 2009 of an anti-American rally in Oakland, California on September 12, 2001 where…
Big Three Nets Trumpet Homosexual Activist's Glitter Attack on Gingric
May 18th, 2011 6:11 PM
On Wednesday, all three major broadcast networks' morning shows played up a homosexual activist throwing glitter at Newt Gingrich during a book signing in Minneapolis. Both CBS's Early Show and NBC's Today show played footage of the attack on the Republican presidential hopeful at the top of their programs, while ABC's Good Morning initially failed to mention the left wing cause of the…
