Economist Lawrence Summers tore into President Joe Biden for redirecting the blame for America’s inflation crisis. Summers, Obama’s former National Economic Council director, said Biden was flat-out “wrong” to blame inflation on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine during a March 11 segment on Bloomberg TV’s Wall Street Week.

CNN Business published an opinion piece that acknowledged soaring inflation and rising gas prices. The economist author absurdly recommended applying a band-aid to the problem, suggesting the government should spend even more money.

But in this case, the supposed cure really is worse than the disease.

While many middle class Americans are struggling to pay to fill up their cars to get to work, CNN’s Brian Stelter had NPR television critic Eric Deggans on his show Reliable Sources to spread conspiracy theories that Fox News is only reporting on skyrocketing gas prices to prevent Americans from rallying around President Biden while he deals with the crisis in Ukraine. 

On Sunday’s This Week, the mostly liberal “PowerHouse Roundtable” couldn’t handle the fact that the results of a ABC/IPSOS poll showed over sixty percent of Americans disapprove of President Biden’s handling of gas prices. 

The New York Times ran a biased story by official fact-checker Linda Qiu in defense of President Biden and high gas prices: “Invasion and Pandemic, Not Policies, Are Driving Up Gas Prices.” The online headline was more partisan: “Republicans Wrongly Blame Biden for Rising Gas Prices.” It's a far cry from the paper's reaction to high prices during the last Bush administration.
