The truth has no place on NBC News. During NBC’s Sunday Today, host Willie Geist continued to push the long-debunked accusation that President Trump called the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) a “hoax” at a Friday campaign rally in South Carolina. On top of that, Geist suggested it took the first death of an American in the U.S. to get the President to cut it out and take the situation seriously.

There is the coronavirus. A genuine problem. Life and death. And what is the response from The New York Times? Not to mention the Democrats? (But I repeat myself.) Play politics! Use a deadly serious, life or death moment to smear the president and mock his vice president. 

The media's urge to say that everything is worse than Richard Nixon and Watergate reached peaked absurdity on Friday as Andrea Mitchell Reports guest host Geoff Bennett and former assistant Watergate special prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks discussed the current administration's "credibility gap" on the coronavirus.  

Leading off a discussion on media coverage of the coronavirus, on Friday, MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle quickly went to work attacking Fox News. Why? Because the competing cable channel was calling out attempts in the press to blame the Trump administration for the spread of the disease.

On MTP Daily, host Chuck Todd twice suggests that President Trump, given his supposed undermining of trust in government institutions, should "reap what he sows" regarding public distrust over coronavirus.

The "fact checkers" at the Associated Press almost religiously stick to checking the claims of Donald Trump. But they drew widespread attention on Thursday for checking Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg on the coronavirus.Trump has not engaged in "reckless cuts" to the Centers for Disease Control. 

Shortly before President Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday to explain what his administration was doing to prepare for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19), ABC’s World News Tonight and the CBS Evening News decided to give a megaphone to Democratic lawmakers so they could suggest the administration wasn’t taking the virus seriously.

MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews made clear Tuesday that, despite an apology Monday to socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for comparing his Nevada win to the Nazis taking France, he would continue to be firmly anti-Sanders. On Wednesday afternoon, MSNBC host Ali Velshi talked up the liberal push for a single-payer health insurance system as he discussed the plans proposed by Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, touting the "generous" benefits promised, but not dealing with the down sides like the rationing of health care.

After a 11:00 p.m. Eastern hour Wednesday in which MSNBC couldn’t decide whether to feel pleased or upset with the feisty Democratic presidential debate, Thursday’s midnight Eastern hour took a turn toward concern that millionaire socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) emerged unscathed on what “was a great night for Donald Trump.”

I love that dystopian stories are “in” for young adults right now because, hopefully, they’re taking some of these messages to heart. In Hulu’s new offering Utopia Falls, the message is clear: the big government that says they’re keeping you safe is actually keeping you in prison or enslaved - you just haven’t figured it out yet.
