CNN Barely Touches Cop Convicted of Killing Unarmed White Woman

May 2nd, 2019 1:23 PM
In the aftermath of Tuesday's news that former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor was convicted of killing an unarmed white woman, Justine Damond, CNN has stood out in showing very little interest in contrast with the liberal news network giving substantial coverage in recent months to cops being convicted of killing black suspects.

22 Years on, NY Times Still Worried by Prisons Filling as Crime Falls

April 28th, 2019 11:41 AM
The New York Times is still mocked in media bias circles for a notorious headline from 1997 lamenting tougher sentencing guidelines. The article's now-notorious headline: "Crime Rates are Falling, but Prisons Keep on Filling.” But the paper's hand-wringing liberal confusion over the apparent paradox has a straightforward explanation: Crime was down at least partially because more criminals were…

April 26th, 2019 10:07 AM
Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are accusing President Trump and Attorney General William Barr of endangering the lives of Trump opponents, including Scarborough himself. On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough and Brzezinski expressed outrage that, by failing to charge Coast Guardsman Christopher Hasson with terrorism, they made him eligible for release on bail on lesser charges. Said…

Sharpton Can't Scold Others for Being Slow to Note Black Church Fires

April 23rd, 2019 3:25 PM
On Saturday's PoliticsNation show, MSNBC host Al Sharpton devoted a segment to fretting that the rebuilding of three black churches struck by arson in Louisiana have not received as much attention as the destruction of Notre Dame Cathedral in France. Sharpton went along with his guest's blatantly incorrect claim that the national media ignored the black churches even though nearly every network…

CNN Pans Kamala Harris for Not Matching Bernie on Terrorist Voting!

April 23rd, 2019 1:46 PM
A CNN New Day panel painted Kamala Harris as the loser in last night's CNN town halls. Three CNN journalists criticized her for not offering "something bold," instead using the "let's have a conversation about that" dodge. Alisyn Camerota got in a zinger at the end, suggesting that if Harris wanted to have a conversation, a town hall just might have been the right place to do it. Ouch!

Some Things to Ponder

April 17th, 2019 2:34 PM
There's a push to change laws to permit both criminals serving time and ex-criminals the right to vote. Guess which party is pushing the most for these legal changes. If you guessed that it was the Democrats, go to the head of the class. Bernie Sanders says states should allow felons to vote from behind bars. Elizabeth Warren doesn't go that far but believes felons should have the right to vote.…

NYT Turns on Assange: From 'Gift of Information' to 'Dubious Judgment'

April 12th, 2019 8:04 PM
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was arrested, and the front page of Friday’s New York Times featured Scott Shane and Steven Erlanger’s recap of Assange and the effect of his leaking of classified national security information (and Democratic Party secrets) in “A Divisive Prophet of the Public’s Right to Know.” The paper noticed that the tide of sophisticated opinion, once favorable to the…

Ex-NFL Star Reggie Bush Bucks Liberals, Calls for Focus on Families

Culture
April 12th, 2019 12:13 AM
It could have passed for an episode of Focus on the Family. The discussion centered on family, faith and the tragic results of fatherlessness. To the contrary, this was a recent episode of Fox Sports 1's Speak For Yourself program and a discussion on, "What can we do to reduce violence in the black community?" A question like that usually draws the knee-jerk poverty-racism-police brutality-…

April 11th, 2019 1:12 AM
This week, “journalist, activist and humanitarian” Shaun King will give a keynote speech at the annual Innocence Network conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The theme of the event, whose attendees work to prevent and undo wrongful convictions, is “The Presumption of Innocence.” I've covered many flabbergasting things over the course of 25 years as a columnist, author, blogger and documentary host,…

Karl Claims Trump 'Started' Border Policy; Rushes to Defend Obama

April 10th, 2019 10:56 AM
Wednesday the Good Morning America team was so eager to “fact-check” President Trump that they slammed him for something he didn’t even say. During a White House photo-op Tuesday, White House correspondent Jonathan Karl berated Trump on the family separation policy that he “started.” After Trump correctly pointed out that the Obama administration also separated children at the border, Karl and…

WashPost Skipped Immigration Status In Brutal Murder of Muslim Girl

April 9th, 2019 3:39 PM
The Washington Post has a bad habit of avoiding inconvenient facts on immigration. In the years after illegal alien Darwin Martinez Torres raped and murdered 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen in northern Virginia, the Post published 11 news stories in the print edition in 2017 and another four news stories in 2018 that blatantly avoided the fact that Torres was an illegal alien. They did it again on…

'Abortion Jill' Filipovic Rips High Court on 'Barbarous' Death Penalty

April 6th, 2019 9:34 PM
Feminist Jill Filipovic usually draws notice by fervently promoting abortion. So it was strange that she came out hard against the death penalty in a CNN.com op-ed on Wednesday. The headline was "This Supreme Court ruling is exceptionally cruel." Convicted murderer Russell Bucklew is being executed by lethal injection in Missouri, which would be quite painful and drawn-out. (Many would ask the…

NYT Critic Scott: Anti-Bonnie and Clyde Film Is 'Vengeful, Murderous'

April 6th, 2019 2:08 PM
A new Netflix offering, The Highwaymen, is the story of the murderous bank-robber duo Bonnie and Clyde, with a twist: The tale is told from the other side. It’s advertised as “the untold true story of the legendary detectives who brought down Bonnie and Clyde,” with the lawmen played by Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson. It debuted on Netflix last week, and the film put New York Times movie…

Police Aren’t Enough

April 3rd, 2019 10:26 PM
Sometimes, during my drive to work, I listen to Clarence Maurice Mitchell IV, host of the Baltimore's WBAL C4 radio show. Mitchell was formerly a member of Maryland's House of Delegates and its Senate. In recent weeks, Mitchell has been talking about the terrible crime situation in Baltimore. In 2018, there were 308 homicides. So far this year, there have been 69. That's in a 2018 population of…
