NYT Editorial Supports Mayor de Blasio, Bashes 'Snarling' NYPD

December 30th, 2014 7:21 PM
Tuesday's lead New York Times editorial on the battle took the side of left-wing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in his tussle with the NYPD, under the striking headline, "Police Respect, Squandered." To which a regular reader of the paper could retort, what "respect" did the paper ever show the NYPD in the first place?

WSJ’s Riley Tears Into Obama, Sharpton on Race Relations

December 29th, 2014 3:43 PM
On the most recent edition of Fox News Sunday, Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Riley blasted President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and activist/MSNBC host Al Sharpton for having “a vested interest in pushing a false narrative, which is that racism is an all-purpose explanation of what drives what's wrong in black America.” When asked by host Chris Wallace to explain why there…

Media Embarrassment: Lionized Ferguson Protester Confesses to Crimes

December 28th, 2014 9:52 AM
In St. Louis County, police have arrested 19 year-old Joshua Williams and charged him (HT Gateway Pundit) with committing "1st degree arson, 2nd degree burglary and misdemeanor theft" at the QuikTrip convenience store in Berkeley, Missouri on Christmas Eve. Williams "has confessed to the crimes." The St. Louis Post-Dispatch gets today's prize for most absurd headline, as seen after the jump (…

No Street Cred: Huff-Post Buys Fake Twitter Account of Police Shooting

December 27th, 2014 8:55 PM
The Huffington Post keeps chipping away at its less than favorable credibility. Just a few days ago, they claimed to have been in contact with a source that said he was the “best friend” of an 18 year old black man who was shot by police in a St. Louis suburb – drawing some to compare the recent police shooting to that of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. It turns out their "friend" turned out…

Rangel Denies NYC Marchers' 'Dead Cops' Chants, Then Brushes Them Off

December 27th, 2014 10:18 AM
As I noted almost two weeks ago, hundreds of protesters in Manhattan repeatedly shouted "What do we want? Dead Cops! When do we want it? Now!" during that city's version of the so-called "Justice For All" marches which took place in several locations around the nation on December 13. The New York Times failed to report the protesters' rants in its original coverage of the marches. The fact that…

New Republic: Conservatives, Unlike Liberals, ‘Lionize’ Extremists

December 26th, 2014 2:52 PM
Brian Beutler defends President Obama and Mayor de Blasio against attacks from the likes of Rudy Giuliani and contends that while “liberal political leaders in America don’t lionize fringe figures,” their conservative counterparts certainly do.

Impressive: New York Times Spins Crime Issue as Problem for GOP

December 25th, 2014 7:06 PM
A Christmas Day article in the New York Times left no doubt which party they would leave a lump of coal for. The paper impressively managed to spin a current controversy into a problem solely for the Republican side -- as if crime has not long been a losing election issue for the Democrats -- by portraying the GOP as making knee-jerk, stiff-necked appeals to white fear.

Anti-Gun ‘PSA’ Tells Kids to Turn in Their Parents’ Guns

December 24th, 2014 10:42 AM
When I first read about this, I thought that it had to be some kind of weird spoof. But it's not. Over the course of almost two excruciatingly tedious minutes complete with ominous piano-dominated background music, a recently created video intended to become a public service announcement (PSA) shows a teenage boy taking a gun out of a drawer in his parents' bedroom and bringing it to school. At…

MSNBC's Robinson Nails Perfect Double Standard on N.Y. Police Murders

December 23rd, 2014 3:30 PM
Congratulations to Washington Post columnist and MSNBC analyst Eugene Robinson for achieving a complete Double Standard in the game "Blood On Your Hands." In Tuesday’s newspaper, Robinson presented a column titled “Blood on whose hands? Protesters weren't the ones who gunned down two N.Y. police officers.” But on January 18, 2011, Robinson wrote an article titled "Palin's egocentric umbrage."…

AP's David Crary Perpetuates Michael Brown 'Hands Up' Myth

December 23rd, 2014 10:43 AM
Establishment press reporting has all too often been about perpetuating a narrative, even long after it has been proven false, than conveying facts and truth. Anyone arguing that 2014 has been one of the worst years ever for this growing trend won't get an argument here. An Associated Press poll about the top stories of the year got responses from 85 editors at subscribing AP outlets. Although…

Daily Beast: Some in Brooklyn Are Cheering NYPD Officers' Murders

December 21st, 2014 12:15 AM
In New York City, police officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were killed Saturday afternoon by a man who indicated online that his motivation was to seek revenge for the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and Eric Garner on Staten Island. At the Daily Beast, M.L. Nestel didn't find it particularly difficult to find people who thought that the officers deserved to die, and almost…

One in Five 'Rolling Stone' Writers Are Morons

December 18th, 2014 5:07 PM
In response to the total implosion of Rolling Stone's preposterous story about a fraternity gang-rape at the University of Virginia, the media have reverted to their Soviet-style reporting. They're not even saying: We're choosing not to talk about UVA because it's a side show. It's more like: UVA? That's a school? Not only did the UVA gang rape turn out to be a hoax, but then President Obama's…

Halperin/Heilemann: MSM Primed to Dig Into Hillary Dealings

December 17th, 2014 8:53 PM
Mark Halperin claims that the MSM has an "anti-Clinton bias." That might send the blood pressure of a Newsbusters reader rocketing.  But before downing a diuretic, consider what he and John Heilemann had to say on their Bloomberg TV show today. Halperin and Heilemann were riffing off the New York Times report that Hillary's State Department permitted a rich Ecuadorian woman to enter the US after…

AP's Story on Federal Judge's Immigration Opinion Woefully Incomplete

December 16th, 2014 11:55 PM
Earlier tonight, Curtis Houck at NewsBusters observed that the Tuesday evening network news shows failed to report on an opinion issued today by a federal judge in Western Pennsylvania in connection with President Obama's illegal immigration-related executive actions last month. Several blogs and center-right outlets noted Judge Arthur Schwab's 38-page "Memorandum Opinion" this afternoon. Not…
