Another day, another pompous and insanely over-the-top editorial to close out CBS Evening News Plus. This time, John Dickerson blesses us with his grandes pensées on Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s convocation of his top generals, admirals, and senior enlisted advisers for what has been colloquially termed a “Come to Pete” meeting.

We’re months away from Super Bowl LX and its Bad Bunny halftime performance but the legacy media are already in top sycophantic form, doing everything in their power to shove this awful pick down the throats of their viewing public. CBS Mornings Plus delivered on all counts. 

It’s almost incomprehensible to see now, as ICE is empowered to do their jobs and remove illegal aliens from the United States, but there was once a time where the border was wide open and thousands flowed freely into the country. And we remember that there were media institutions openly cheering this invasion.

The indictment of Resistance FBI Director James Comey is clearly the top news story of this weekend’s cycle. As Jake Tapper’s interview of Speaker Mike Johnson on CNN’s State of the Union demonstrates, the legacy media do not quite yet have a handle on this story.

The legacy media have cast themselves as staunch defenders of the First Amendment as they circle the wagons for Regime comic Jimmy Kimmel. However, they are nowhere to be seen as Google admits to censorship of conservatives under pressure from the Biden White House.

Jimmy Kimmel’s much heralded return to the airwaves finally happened. As expected, there has been significant gushing over Kimmel’s monologue. Among those gleefully squeeing, CNN Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter.

The legacy media are content to further self-debase by reducing themselves to heralds of the triumphant return of Free Speech Martyr Jimmy Kimmel to late-night television. In so doing, they are turning their focus on the holdout affiliate groups still refusing to air Kimmel unless he can show proof of human decency.

The nation struggles to come to grips with this latest rash of political violence. One of these incidents involved the shooting of the lobby of ABC’s Sacramento affiliate. Shockingly, NBC was the only newscast to offer these new details.

The legacy newscasts decided that Disney/ABC’s restoration of Jimmy Kimmel Live! would sit at the top of the A-block- top story on ABC and NBC, and second story on CBS. In many ways, this editorial decision exemplifies both the media’s disconnect from the public they claim to serve, and the insular circling of the wagons for one of their own under duress.

Earlier today Disney/ABC announced the return of Trump-deranged late night host Jimmy Kimmel to his eponymously named show on Tuesday. But the return appears to be a partial one, as Sinclair has announced via X that their pre-emption remains in effect.

The left have been furiously spinning narrative in the wake of the horrific assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Much of this spin is dedicated to the negation of a transgender motive behind the shooting. In service of that narrative, CBS’s Scott MacFarlane completely misrepresented statements by Utah Governor Spencer Cox.

A common feature of legacy media coverage leading up to the 2024 presidential campaign was their collective reluctance and/or outright refusal to cover heinous crimes that reflected poorly on key Democrat policies. With the 2026 midterms over a year out, it appears that the media are reverting to form. 

In one of the clearest cases of “It’s (D)ifferent” in recent memory, we respectfully submit for your consideration the substantive contrast in interviews of Supreme Court justices by former CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell. On the one hand, her fawning over the “historic” Ketanji Brown Jackson, and on the other: her insistence that Amy Coney Barrett deliver “adequate checks”…

Over the years we’ve argued that the Spanish-language media, in addition to advocating for unrestricted immigration, profess an editorial line that is often deferential to the promotion of Mexico and Mexican interests. One story out of Chicago blends both of these corporate interests.
