NBC on Death of Pro-Commie Activist: ‘Enduring Voice for Progressives'
October 24th, 2016 11:57 AM
NBC on Monday spun the death of Tom Hayden, a ‘60s era radical activist who spouted pro-Communist propaganda, as an “enduring voice for progressive causes.” Matt Lauer simply referred to Hayden as someone who made “trips to North Vietnam,” but never described him as extreme. ABC’s Good Morning America also avoided such judgment. Only CBS This Morning referred to Hayden as a “radical activist.”

Venezuela Descends Into Dictatorship, With Minimal News Visibility
October 22nd, 2016 11:33 AM
Thursday evening, Venezuela's Bolivarian Socialist government arbitrarily suspended the recall effort against "President" Nicolas Maduro, demonstrating beyond any doubt that the South American country now functions as a dictatorship. Given its gravity, this news, described in coverage at the Wall Street Journal as "a crisis of democracy," is not getting the visibility it should be receiving.

New ABC Comedy Gets Conservatism COMPLETELY Backwards
Culture
October 12th, 2016 3:43 PM
ABC’s new comedy American Housewife premiered Tuesday night but completely missed the mark in depicting the philosophically conservative son in the family, as frequently happens. The pilot took the intellectually lazy way out and portrayed the conservative son as uncaring, money-grubbing, and selfish.

NY Times Headline, Seven Months Late: Venezuela 'Buying U.S. Oil'
September 23rd, 2016 11:37 PM
The absurd headline at a September 20 story at the New York Times is a sight to behold: "How Bad Off Is Oil-Rich Venezuela? It’s Buying U.S. Oil."
As formulated, the headline is clearly meant to communicate something that is supposedly a surprising new development in that country, which, thanks to 17 years of Bolivarian socialist rule, has turned into a financially destitute humanitarian…

NY Times Howler: Bill Clinton Has Had a 'Year of Restraint'
September 11th, 2016 5:30 PM
Apparently just arriving after over a year spent in a virtually news-free, hermetically sealed cave, New York Times reporter Matt Flegenheimer pretended that former President Bill Clinton has, until he recently began complaining about the treatment of the Clinton Foundation, had "more than a year of uncharacteristic restraint." In the real world the rest of us inhabit, Clinton has benefited from…

AP Describes Schlafly as 'Far-Right,' Her Group As 'Ultraconservative'
September 6th, 2016 3:50 PM
The death of conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly set off the predictable leftist social media hatefest overnight, and naturally gave rise to a "graceless" obituary in the New York Times.
While it's a bit of a relief that Jim Salter's obituary at the Associated Press was not as hostile as the quite left-leaning wire service has been towards deceased conservatives in the past (e.g., Tony Snow in…

August 31st, 2016 10:49 AM
On Wednesday’s NBC Today, correspondent Kerry Sanders once again acted like a representative from the Cuban board of tourism as he reported live from a plane set to take off for the Communist nation: “Well, good morning from the cockpit of Jetblue Flight 387....this is going to be a one hour and eight minute flight into history.” The on-screen headline proclaimed: “U.S. Flights to Cuba Resume;…

Not News: 'Jesus Christ' of Marxism to Direct Venezuelan Economy
August 9th, 2016 5:56 PM
Over two weeks ago, the Bolivarian socialist government of Venezuela under de facto dictator Nicolas Maduro decreed that private-sector and government workers can be forced to work on farms if the military, which is now responsible for food production and distribution in that shortage-wracked country, deems it necessary.
Relevant site searches indicate that the country's forced-labor decree…

At AP, Fidel Castro at 90 Is 'Inspiration' For 'Communist Orthodoxy'
August 2nd, 2016 1:02 PM
Five years ago, the Associated Press was so excited about the imminent 85th birthday of Fidel Castro, Communist Cuba's dictator emeritus, that its Images Group promoted a package of "iconic images and videos" subscribing outlets could purchase and use. It described Castro as a "source of inspiration for many people throughout the world."
Thus, it should surprise no one that the wire service,…

Not News at AP, NY Times: Forced Labor in Venezuela
July 30th, 2016 1:34 PM
Now we know why Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela's de facto dictator, recently handed over responsibility for food production to the military: He's going to need soldiers on farms and elsewhere in the food distribution chain to keep conscripted workers in line.
That's because on July 22, now over a week ago, Maduro's government decreed "... that any employee in Venezuela can be effectively made to work…

The Memphis Commercial Appeal died as a genuine newspaper on July 12.

Latest Excuse For Venezuela's Food Shortages: Military Mismanagement
July 16th, 2016 2:38 PM
The latest installment in leftist excuse-making when socialism fails goes into the "It would work if leaders just had the right people handling things" file. It comes in the form of a Friday morning "analysis" at the Associated Press. Writers Jorge Rueda and Joshua Goodman want readers to believe that the economy in the Bolivarian socialist and once fairly prosperous nation of Venezuela would be…
