Rasmussen Column: Presidential Debates Are Seldom Game-changers
October 1st, 2012 10:18 AM
The presidential debate season is upon us with President Obama and his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, scheduled to square off Wednesday night in the Political Class version of a cage match.
Heading into the debates, the conventional wisdom suggests that Romney has fallen way behind and has to dramatically change the course of the race in these head-to-head events. Some even suggest that…
NYT: Conservatives Are Taking Over the Media
October 1st, 2012 9:09 AM
In an essay published on page B1 of today’s New York Times, columnist David Carr seeks to contradict an open letter which MRC president Brent Bozell and other leading conservatives signed which calls out the media for their favoritism toward President Barack Obama.
He appears to have a few problems making an intellectually coherent argument, however.
Politico: Romney's the One With an Adviser-Related Libya Problem
September 30th, 2012 11:35 PM
Let's see. Who has the bigger problem with Libya and the Middle East? Is it the guy who's in charge with a foreign policy in disarray who has described the first murder of a U.S. ambassador in 33 years a "bump in the road"? Or his presidential campaign challenger Mitt Romney?
If we're to believe Mike Allen, Jim Vandehei, and Politico, it's Romney, where "Romney advisers at odds over Libya"…
Why Media Bias Matters: AP's Ohlemacher Fibs and Obfuscates on Social
September 30th, 2012 8:45 PM
The Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, has been running a series of "Why It Matters" items in the run-up to the presidential election purporting to educate readers about important issues.
Reporter Stephen Ohlemacher's contribution to the series concerning Social Security opens with a bald-faced fib, omits the fact that the system's benefit payments and costs have exceed payroll…
MSNBC's Toure Argues Put 2008 Aside; Only Re-electing Obama in 2012 Wi
September 30th, 2012 1:00 PM
From his spot on the Time Ideas blog, the MSNBC anchor Toure admitted "If President Obama had to run against Senator Obama of 2008, he’d probably be crushed. Back then, Obama seemed superhuman; today he is merely mortal. His victory in 2008 was historic, breaking the race barrier in the nation’s highest office."
Guess what came next. Re-electing Obama is a greater test of whether America is…
More Obama Reelect-Presumptive Coverage at the Politico: 'America's Ne
September 30th, 2012 8:55 AM
Does anyone remember anybody in the establishment press speculating over who might hold Cabinet positions during a second Bush 43 term in the fall of 2004 without qualifying it with "if Bush is reelected"? Neither do I.
But at the Politico on Thursday, the closest Josh Ragin got in an item found at the web site's "The Cable" section speculating on whether John Kerry or Susan Rice is better…
Bill Maher Attacks Pollster Scott Rasmussen For 'Taking a Side' with t
September 30th, 2012 7:50 AM
Bill Maher isn’t scowling at conservatives on his HBO show right now, but on his blog, he has a new character on the political scene to attack: pollster Scott Rasmussen.
In Maher’s brain, conservatives are reality-deniers who live in the “Fox-Rush-Drudge” bubble who won’t listen to opposing views. "Because wingnuts can go for months and not talk to anyone who doesn’t think Obama is a bigger…
Obama Campaign: Birth Control Costs $18,000; Press Doesn't Expose to D
September 29th, 2012 9:53 PM
If anything as embarrassing as what follows occurred at a Republican presidential contender's website, including the follow-up ridicule by the opposition, the press would never be able to resist covering it.
A mythical (I hope) ecard created at the Obama-Biden campaign site call purports to be from a daughter to her mother, and asks about the most ridiculous question you can imagine.
Fact: Historically Speaking, Polls Have Underestimated GOP Vote
September 29th, 2012 8:39 AM
Knowing that exit polling has historically overestimated the Democratic vote and knowing how much the final regular polling in the 1980 race understated Ronald Reagan’s support compared to Jimmy Carter, it is worth looking at what the final poll results said in other presidential election years.
The facts show a similar trend in a pro-Democratic direction almost uniformly. Historically…
Put This in Your Polling Pipe and Smoke It: Big Drops Since '08 in Vot
September 29th, 2012 7:16 AM
Rush Limbaugh brought up an important matter relating to polling Friday, which even beyond what is already known about party affiliation from Rasmussen and Gallup, further supports the notion that performing presidential preference polls based on 2008 presidential turnout is fundamentally flawed.
Read it below, because you can virtually bet what's left of the value of your home that you won't…
NYT's Jackie Calmes Defends Obama, Again Claims ObamaCare Will Cut Def
September 29th, 2012 6:05 AM
New York Times White House correspondent Jackie Calmes off lead in Wednesday's edition on Obama's struggle with the federal deficit, "Test for Obama As Deficit Stays Over $1 Trillion." Credit Calmes for the premise and the Times for the prominent placement, but as usual, Calmes waved the blame away from Obama and again clung to the dubious idea that ObamaCare would actually reduce the deficit…
MSNBC's Harris-Perry Crusades Against 'Voter Suppression' of 'Transgen
September 28th, 2012 7:14 PM
MSNBC doesn't just oppose voter-ID reforms on behalf of blacks. In an interview with the DC gay newspaper The Washington Blade, weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry insisted "voter suppression efforts continue to impact transgender Americans." It came with a lot of leftist lingo.
“They don’t look like what their photo IDs are,” she said. “So if they are self-presenting in front of an election…
ABC Reports Obama Administration Knew Terrorists Carried Out Libya Att
September 28th, 2012 5:22 PM
ABC's Jake Tapper's Thursday report on World News stands alone as the only Big Three coverage so far of what The Daily Beast's Eli Lake reported on Wednesday - that U.S. intelligence officials had "strong indications" within a day that Islamist terrorists were behind the September 11, 2012 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi - not a mob enraged at a controversial Internet video.

Piers Morgan Ignores Libya While Pounding Romney Campaign
September 28th, 2012 4:43 PM
While ignoring breaking news in the Obama administration's Libya fiasco on Thursday night, CNN's Piers Morgan dumped on the Romney campaign for a good portion of his show, saying Mitt is "in a hell of a lot of trouble."
Morgan cited four polls in Virginia showing "Obama comfortably ahead," even though one of the polls was actually a tie and another had Obama leading within the margin of…
