Sen. Graham Slams CBS Host: 'Media's So In The Tank' on Biden Scandal in Ukraine

February 9th, 2020 5:40 PM

On Sunday's Face the Nation, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told CBS host Margaret Brennan the media's "so in the tank" on the Biden scandal in Ukraine. It came right on the edge of a commercial break, when Brennan felt compelled to add the usual in-the-tank disclaimer that "nothing" has been "substantiated" on Biden corruption. Graham made the obvious point: the media make zero or near-zero effort to substantate the Biden scandal, and then say tsk-tsk that it's unproven.

MARGARET BRENNAN: We need to finish this conversation--

SEN. GRAHAM: OK.

BRENNAN: --because you brought up a number of things. So we're going to have to take a quick break. I do want to- to- to say, though, that to this point, nothing has been in any way substantiated in regard to corruption when it comes to Joe Biden himself. His son served on the board and was paid for it.

GRAHAM: I just think the media is so in the tank over this issue--

BRENNAN: No but--

GRAHAM: It makes me sick to my stomach.

BRENNAN: You just said--

GRAHAM: We'll talk about it in a minute.

BRENNAN: Right, but you were saying it needs to be investigated--

GRAHAM: Yeah, nobody's investigating it.

BRENNAN: You're acknowledging there's no proof of it--

GRAHAM: CBS hasn't sent- sent one reporter.

BRENNAN: To Ukraine? Yes we did.

GRAHAM: Yeah. I don't think you take it seriously.

BRENNAN: We are, so we're taking a break and come back to talk to you about it--

GRAHAM: Good.

BRENNAN: --on the other side of it. So stay with us, all of you.

But when the show returned, Brennan resumed her interrogation of Graham on Rudy Giuliani and then the dismissal of Lt. Col. Vindman. They never returned to the media's incredibly weak record on investigating the Bidens.

Sen. Graham may have tired of the media bias when Brennan asked:

BRENNAN: However, when you're talking about being asked to do these things in a channel being open between Rudy Giuliani and the Justice Department, this sounds a lot like this is in some ways a taxpayer funded oppo-research operation against Joe Biden. Isn't this exactly what was at the heart of the impeachment probe to begin with?

It's like she didn't hear a word Graham was saying about how the Obama administration blatantly misled the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by getting an investigation into Trump adviser Carter Page, based on the Democrat-funded Steele dossier. What commenced was -- you guessed it -- a taxpayer-funded oppo-research operation against Donald Trump.

Graham promised "I'm not going to be played. So we're going to look at the Hunter Biden, Joe Biden connection to the Ukraine. We're going to ask the State Department, why didn't you do something about the conflict of interest? When John Kerry's chief of staff was warned about Hunter Biden's conflict on Burisma, what did you do, if anything? That's all legitimate."
