ABC Admits: ‘Possible There Was No Collusion,’ Trump Could Be Vindicated ‘to Some Degree’

March 22nd, 2019 5:57 PM

News broke on Friday that Special Counsel Robert Muelller has submitted his report to the Department of Justice. All three networks broke in with ABC admitting that it’s now “possible there was no collusion” and that Donald Trump might be vindicated “to some degree.”

While we don’t know what’s in the report, the ABC journalists indicated that liberals might be in for disappointment. Terry Moran prepared viewers: “So it is possible we will learn a conclusion, the broad conclusion very quickly. Which is that there was no collusion.”

Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos agreed: “That would... bolster one of the points that President Trump has been making throughout this 22 months.” Dan Abrams added, “You have to say that if it turns out that there is no indictment that alleges any conspiracy between anyone in the Trump campaign and the Russians, that vindicates the President to some degree.”

Stay tuned to NewsBusters for more on this as it develops.

TERRY MORAN: If you go to his [Mueller] original assignment he was appointed in order to investigate any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and the individuals associated with the campaign of Donald Trump. Well, in his indictments he has already brought, and he is not going to bring any more, there was little to no evidence of any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. Not Manafort case, not in the Stone case. We just haven't seen it at this point. So it is possible we will learn a conclusion, the broad conclusion very quickly. Which is that there was no collusion.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Which was that there No American, no Trump associate who cooperated with the conspiracy that the Russians were engaged in right there. That would, Dan Abrams, bolster one of the points that President trump has been making throughout this 22 months.

DAN ABRAMS: Right. Remember that the initial mandate was not about Donald Trump. It was about campaign. Anyone involved in the Trump campaign. Were there any collusion with the Russians between them and anyone in the Trump campaign? Look, you have to say that if it turns out that there is no indictment that alleges any conspiracy between anyone in the Trump campaign and the Russians, that vindicates the President to some degree. That doesn't mean there was nothing, that nothing was done wrong. It doesn't mean there is not potential obstruction of justice but it does vindicate the fundamental claim about the collusion with the Russians when it comes to the fundamental indictment of the 12 and the 13 Russians for hacking and for distribution.
