Former Congresswoman Smacks Down Bill Maher for Calling Fox's Megyn Kelly 'Not Bright' 'Blonde Twink'

Former Congresswoman Jane Harman called out Bill Maher Friday evening for saying Fox News's Megyn Kelly was a "blonde twink" who's "not bright."

Appearing on HBO's "Real Time," Harman responded by noting that Maher had just minutes before discussed with author Ron Suskind the sexist treatment of women in the Obama White House, and then said, "I want to point out that the last time I was on this show, there were lots of women on. This time, I'm it. I'm blonde. Hey" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER, HOST: Here’s the difference I think between Republicans and Democrats. At one point, the blonde twink who’s asking these questions.

JON AVLON, NEWSWEEK: That’s a technical term.

MAHER: I’m sorry, I meant Madame Curie. I don't know who that lady is on Fox, but she's not bright. She was talking about, you know, Obama’s big thing this week, the millionaire's tax. Obama, in the slow retreat that is the economic policy of the Obama administration - can't tax everybody. Can't tax people who makes $250,000. We’re down to just, okay, just the millionaires. That’s who, you know, thinking no one could object to this. And most Americans are for this. And this lady says, she’s posing to us she says, “66% of Americans actually think this is a good idea.” Whoo-hoo.

FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN JANE HARMAN (D-CALIFORNIA): Wait a minute. About the blonde female. We just had Ron Suskind on, didn't we, and he was talking about, or his book is about the treatment of women in the White House. I want to point out that the last time I was on this show…

MAHER: It’s not because she’s a woman. It’s because she’s dumb.

HARMAN: …there were lots of women on. This time, I'm it. I'm blonde. Hey!

He really is an idiot, isn't he?

First, he completely forgot that his previous guest just released a book about the sexist treatment of women in the Obama White House and that he actually discussed this issue with him.

Next, he went after the intellectual capacity of Megyn Kelly, a former attorney that is considered one of the most intelligent people on Fox News. As anyone familiar with Kelly's work knows, Maher wouldn't last 60 seconds in a debate on any subject with her.

But right-thinking observers know Maher's sexism and misogyny, especially for conservative women, knows no bounds.

Brava to Harman for calling him on it. If only more left of center women would.
