The View Cries Violation of Church and State to Deny Pelosi Communion

May 23rd, 2022 2:30 PM

On Friday, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone penned a notice telling Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that, because of her pro-choice stance, she will not be permitted to take receive Holy Communion. Well, this absolutely triggered the pro-baby killing coven on ABC’s The View. And during their Monday show, they accused the Archbishop of somehow violating the separation of church and state by carrying out punishment against a member of the church for violating their beliefs.

During the opening tease of the show, the announcer accused Cordileone of practicing “bad faith” with his decision. “Did the San Francisco Archbishop cross the line between church and state by denying Speaker Pelosi communion for her pro-choice stance,” the voiceover ridiculously asked.

It was a nonsensical point that was parroted by co-host Whoopi Goldberg, obviously. “The abortion rights battle is starting to blur the lines between church and state,” she huffed. “The Archbishop of San Francisco is calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving communion because of her pro-choice stance.”

They never provided an explanation for how the church dealing with a member internally was a violation of the separation of church and state.

Goldberg seems to think her appearances in the Sister Act movies qualify her to speak about the Catholic Church. She lashed out at Cordileone and claimed he was going beyond his duties as an archbishop of Pelosi’s archdiocese:

This is not your job, dude! That is not – you can’t – that is not up to you to make that decision. You know, what is the saying? It's kind of amazing, but, you know, what is the point of communion, right? It's for sinners. It's for the sinners. It's the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners.

“How dare you? How dare you,” she sneered. In reality, it is his decision to make.

Trying to call out the church for “hypocrisy,” co-host Joy Behar tried to draw attention to pro-capital punishment politicians. She singled out Republican Texas governor, Greg Abbott and suggested he’s personally executed people. “He's executed many people,” he declared.

It wasn’t until after they came back from a commercial break that she walked it back. “Well, I got a note between shows,” she admitted. “The governor of Texas did not himself pull the switch on the executions, that he oversaw it.”

Of course, no underhanded segment attacking the church would be complete without bringing up the sexual abuse scandals and pretending as though there have not been a plethora of reforms that have been rooting out abusive priests. This was done by co-host Sara Haines, who has a particular hatred for pro-lifers:

They will fight for this cause, and yet they will allow people that have been abused by the leaders in their communities, they will shove those stories aside and continue to protect their own in the name of the PR of the church. That is disgusting to me.

What’s disgusting is that Haines and The View approve of the sexual grooming being done by radical liberal teachers in schools.

Taking things a step further, faux conservative co-host Ana Navarro went on an unhinged rant claiming, without evidence, that the Cordileone himself had protected such abusive priests:

If you want to protect children, Archbishop, instead of sheltering pedophilia, you know, pedophile priests, instead of moving them to other churches without telling the community, instead of protecting them, you should be protecting the children who go get catholic education in your churches.

Towards the end of the first segment, co-host Sunny Hostin, who claims to be a “devout Catholic,” touted that her five years on The View have taught her “not to politicize my religion.” “Why are they weaponizing the sacrament against Nancy Pelosi, but not treating Bill Barr and Greg Abbott and other pro-death penalty politicians the same way? That’s problematic,” she whined.

These attacks against the Catholic church were made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from LifeLock and Procter & Gamble. Their contact information is linked.

ANNOUNCER: Bad faith? Did the San Francisco archbishop cross the line between church and state by denying Speaker Pelosi communion for her pro-choice stance? And why is the Speaker supporting an anti-abortion Democrat in Texas?

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: The abortion rights battle is starting to blur the lines between church and state. The archbishop of San Francisco – mmm – is calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving communion because of her pro-choice stance. He's one of the priests who also called President Biden to be denied sacrament.

This is not your job, dude! That is not – you can’t – that is not up to you to make that decision. You know, what is the saying? It's kind of amazing, but, you know, what is the point of communion, right? It's for sinners. It's for the sinners. It's the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners. How dare you? How dare you?

JOY BEHAR: Pope Francis is not pro-choice.

GOLDBERG: No.

BEHAR: He's also against capital punishment. And I don't see anybody denying what's his name, Abbott? Governor Abbott in Texas, who is the Catholic-- He's executed many people. I don't see them saying he can't receive communion. So, the hypocrisy is in the church too.

It also depends on each archdiocese. So, this is why Nancy could get communion in Georgetown. Because that particular archdiocese was okay with it. So, everybody is different.

SARA HAINES: They will fight for this cause, and yet they will allow people that have been abused by the leaders in their communities, they will shove those stories aside and continue to protect their own in the name of the PR of the church. That is disgusting to me.

ANA NAVARRO: They have paid $4 billion or more in settlement claims for pedophilia. So, if you want to protect children, Archbishop, instead of sheltering pedophilia, you know, pedophile priests, instead of moving them to other churches without telling the community, instead of protecting them, you should be protecting the children who go get catholic education in your churches.

SUNNY HOSTIN: You know, I have learned from you ladies on this show having been here for five years, not to politicize my religion. Right? And so while I believe that abortion is wrong, and I believe that the catechism of the Catholic church that pro-life extends from conception through natural death.

HOSTIN: Why are they weaponizing the sacrament against Nancy Pelosi, but not treating Bill Barr and Greg Abbott and other pro-death penalty politicians the same way? That’s problematic.
