CBS Claims Trump Supporters Plan to 'Storm the Capitol' With 'Weapons'

January 5th, 2021 8:07 PM

The CBS Evening News wore their hatred for Trump supporters on their sleeve Tuesday as anchor Norah O’Donnell and White House correspondent Weijia Jiang claimed, without evidence, that pro-Trump protesters gathering in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday planned to bring “weapons” and “storm the Capitol” building in some kind of coup attempt.

O’Donnell pushed the vague speculation from very early on in the program. During her opening rundown of the stories they’d be covering, O’Donnell reported: “Now tens of thousands of the President's supporters who disagree with the outcome of the election are expected to rally outside the Capitol tomorrow, with growing concern tonight there could be violence.”

Where was CBS getting this information? It was none of your business according to Jiang, who only said she got it from an anonymous “senior Defense official.”

“And Weijia joins us from the White House because I understand you are hearing that there is concerning intelligence about possible violence tomorrow. What have you learned,” O’Donnell teed up Jiang at the end of her report about President Trump’s effort to pressure Vice President Pence.

Citing only the claims of an official she refused to identify, Jiang ghoulishly proclaimed protesting Trump supporters were out for blood. “Norah, tonight a senior Defense official tells CBS News there are calls all over social media for protesters to storm the Capitol, in addition to reports that some of them will bring weapons,” she said.

Further, Jiang also decried how the President was encouraging his supporters to exercise their First Amendment right to peaceably assemble in the nation’s capital. “Local authorities are urging people to stay away from downtown, but President Trump is encouraging his supporters to protest and even plans to join them with a speech tomorrow morning,” she whined.

While CBS was busy vilifying President Trump’s supporters, they refused to report on how the family of Republican Senator Josh Hawley (MO) was assailed by Antifa terrorists at their D.C. area residence, screaming at his wife and vandalizing his property.

“You screamed through bullhorns, shouted down my wife when she asked you to leave, vandalized property, pounded on our door, and terrorized neighbors,” the Senator wrote on Twitter. “And didn’t have the guts to do it in daylight, but only under cover of darkness so you could hide. You’re scum. And we won’t be intimidated.”
