NBC Scoffs at Fact Cops Getting Targeted, Downplay Cop Shot in Face

June 10th, 2020 8:49 PM

While the liberal media were busy helping to promote the radical calls to “defund the police,” NBC Nightly News took to downplaying instances of cops getting ambushed and attacked, even scoffing at the notion. During Wednesday’s edition of the show, correspondent Gadi Schwartz downplayed a California sheriff getting shot in the face. Luckily, ABC’s Will Carr dedicated a full report to the attack, showcasing what NBC was trying to sweep under the rug.

Leading into Schwartz’s report, anchor Lester Holt stoked anti-cop sentiment. “As demonstrations continue across America today, more examples are emerging of police using deadly force, underscoring the sweeping demands for change and accountability we're seeing,” he announced.

Moments later, Schwartz scoffed at the idea that cops were being increasingly targeted and suggested it was just something those opposed to reform were saying. “Tonight more evidence of police violence as the nation grapples with policing in America. But some officials pushing back saying officers are now being targeted,” he declared.

As for the latest California ambush, Schwartz reported: “Early this morning in California, an officer shot when someone opened fire on their police station, hitting a squad car before getting away. The suspect still at large.” And that was all.

The amount of details he omitted about the attack were ridiculous, as the World News Tonight report showed.

“And as I mentioned at the top tonight, there is an urgent hunt at this hour for a gunman who fired on a police station in Paso Robles, California, shooting a deputy in the face and then a body found a mile away, someone shot dead. Authorities do believe it's related,” announced anchor David Muir.

While Schwartz made it sound like the attacker took a couple of pop shots and ran off, Carr reported that “Police [were] describing the shooter as a male in his 20s or 30s. They're urging residents to shelter in place. The gunfire erupted early this morning around 3:15 in downtown Paso Robles.”

He also shared dispatch audio of the assault as it was taking place:

UNIDENTIFIED MAN (via radio): Taking gunfire. At the DMV!

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN (via radio): Copy. Taking gunfire on ninth street at the DMV.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN (via radio): Keeps shooting at us!

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN (via radio): Gunfire is coming from a southerly direction north of the DMV.

After noting that the shooter was suspected of killing another man not far from the station, Carr noted that authorities believe, “without a doubt, he set out to kill police officers and this is the third time that members of law enforcement have been ambushed here in California in just the past couple of weeks.”

This report by Carr flipped the tables on NBC, seeing as ABC was the one who previously ignored a deadly ambush of a police officer while NBC covered it.
