MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski: Warren's 'Life Reflects Her Message, People Looking for Truth'

September 30th, 2019 11:00 AM

Can Mika Brzezinski possibly be this oblivious? On Monday's Morning Joe, Brzezinski claimed that, in contrast with Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren is well-positioned to benefit from the possible impeachment of President Trump because:

"Elizabeth Warren’s life reflects her message and that definitely works at a time like this because people are looking for truth."

Does "Fauxcohantas" ring a bell, Mika? For millions of Americans, Elizabeth Warren's name is synonymous with lying, with falsely claiming to be a Native American in order to climb the academic-career, um, totem pole. The "truth?" Elizabeth Warren couldn't handle the truth of her own heritage, and so she invented one to get ahead.

Here's the transcript of the exchange:

MSNBC
Morning Joe
9/30/19

JOE SCARBOROUGH: You talk about how the, quote, soft nepotism of the Bidens will end up hurting Joe Biden inside the Democratic primary, and will accrue to the advantage of Elizabeth Warren and other Democrats in that race.

ED LUCE: Yeah. I think that the problem for Biden is that Trump is going to be continually bringing the topic back to something that wasn’t illegal, that was perfectly within the norm, what his son did, joining Ukraine’s largest gas company. And that even though there is no comparison between the high crimes and misdemeanors the President is accused of, and the legal money-making that the former Vice-President’s son was carrying out, some of this is going to stick.

MIKA BRZEZINKSI: Yeah.

LUCE: Washington, part of the problem with Washington is what’s normal, what’s legal, and I guess monetizing a powerful relatives’s name, such as your dad being Vice-President, to the tune of $50,000 a month, it’s just not going to look good. It’s kind of emblematic of what Americans outside of the Beltway see as being wrong with what's inside the Beltway.

And of course, Elizabeth Warren has based a lot of her campaign, a indeed, prior to this campaign, a lot of her political career, on tackling corruption, on tackling the revolving door nexus in Washington, DC, and the effects of lobbying money. Hunter Biden was a lobbyist . . . So Warren, I think, is quite well-positioned, not to talk about Biden at all, but to benefit from some of the mud that’s going to stick to Joe Biden from Trump just continually day and night throwing it at him.

BRZEZINSKI: Yeah. You know, Elizabeth Warren’s life reflects her message, and that definitely works at a time like this because people are looking for truth.

Brzezinski's remarks came in response to comments by Ed Luce of the Financial Times. The Englishman's current column makes the case that Warren is well-positioned to benefit from impeachment because even though Hunter and Joe Biden [supposedly] did nothing wrong regarding Ukraine, some of the "mud" is "going to stick."

Note: In addition to trampling the truth by falsely claiming to be a Native American, Warren more recently uttered a lie regarding the Michael Brown shooting, tweeting that he had been "murdered" by a policeman. This despite President Obama's Attorney General, Eric Holder, stating, after an investigation into the matter by his Justice Department, that “Michael Brown’s death, though a tragedy, did not involve prosecutable conduct on the part of Officer Wilson.”
