Scarborough: My Best Friends in Washington are Liberal Dems Like Maxine Waters

Talk about politics making strange bedfellows . . . Joe Scarborough has said that when he goes back to Washington, DC, his "best friends" are "liberal Democrats."  The one person Scarborough singled out to illustrate this was Maxine Waters, mentioning that he hugs her on the House floor.

Scarborough's statement came during a pre-recorded New Hampshire town hall with John Kasich that aired on today's Morning Joe.  I wish Scarborough had explained why his best friends are liberal Democrats rather than any of the 247 Republicans in the House. Maxine Waters, really? The woman who called George W. a "liar" and Dick Cheney a "liar" and "thief?" Who has proposed the goverrnment takeover of major US corporations?

JOE SCARBOROUGH: I think that the biggest shock for me, John as you look at when we were there and what happens today. I mean, when we were there, we had impeachment. It was a pitched battle. Bill Clinton didn't like us and a lot of us didn't like him. Yet, you were great friends with a lot of people in the Clinton administration. I was just commenting yesterday when Joe Biden had said Republicans aren't the enemy, I said: you know what?, my best friends when I go back to Washington are Democrats. They're liberal Democrats. I go on the floor and I hug Maxine Waters, and we joke about, you know, we used to have a joke whenever I'd hug Maxine on the floor, she said you're losing votes for me back in my district. Get away! Get away! But we used to do that! It doesn't happen any more!

JOHN KASICH: We can fight without having to hate and there's too much of the really personal stuff that's going on and that blows it up.
