“Tony Podesta and the Podesta Group are now the subjects of a federal investigation being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, three sources with knowledge of the matter told NBC News,” began an article published on NBCNews.com at 4:32 a.m. ET Monday morning. Despite the stunning revelation that the major Democratic lobbyist and brother of top Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta was embroiled in the federal criminal investigation, NBC’s Today show completely ignored the story.
The network morning show did, however, manage to devote a nearly three-minute segment to singer Justin Timberlake being tapped to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show and a five-minute segment on how to make homemade Halloween candy.
Meanwhile, Fox News wasn’t afraid to cover NBC’s reporting Monday morning. Fox & Friends host Steve Doocey informed viewers:
Now it turns out Robert Mueller, the special counsel, is investigating the Podesta Group. Keep in mind, it was – Tony Podesta is the brother of John Podesta who was Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager. That man is – it looks like, according to news reports this morning, this investigation has morphed into a criminal inquiry whether or not his firm, when they were lobbying on behalf of the Ukraine, violated the Foreign Agent’s Registration Act.
That report was at the top of 7 a.m. ET hour. It begs the question, if Fox News could report the story at 7:02 a.m., why couldn’t NBC?
The Podesta scoop was at least featured on MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the 8 a.m. ET hour during a panel discussion. The story was also mentioned in a handful of news briefs on the cable channel later in the morning. Neither ABC’s Good Morning America nor CBS This Morning mentioned the story.
Every new development in the Russia investigation has been promoted with great fanfare in the liberal press. Strange that when a prominent Democrat is implicated in possible wrongdoing during that same investigation, the network news suddenly goes silent.
This follows another unflattering story for Democrats being censored by the Big Three networks – the Clinton/Russia/Uranium scandal. The blackout continued on Monday despite the shocking new revelation that a Russian spy tried to infiltrate Hillary Clinton’s inner circle.
