Cruel Joy Behar Mocks Rittenhouse Crying: ‘Worst Acting Job I’ve Ever Seen’

November 11th, 2021 6:07 PM

Joy Behar has praised dictators, yet she has no sympathy for a teenager who’s on trial for murder because he shot people attacking him. On today’s The View, the co-host and her peers cruelly mocked Kyle Rittenhouse’s tearful testimony that he acted in self-defense, with Behar scoffing it was the “worst acting” she’d ever seen and Ana Navarro sneering the teen would eventually run as a Republican Congressman if he escaped jail.

ABC began by playing a clip of Rittenhouse during his trial yesterday, breaking down in tears while being relentlessly cross-examined. “I did nothing wrong, I was defending myself,” he stated. Afterward, Behar had no sympathy. “Baloney!” she exclaimed.

The audience lapped that up. Behar continued to mock the teen on trial without flinching:

He goes across -- I mean, from what I'm gleaning from this case the guy goes across state lines with an AR-15, with his mother and some other idiot in the car to defend himself against what? They're having a protest in another state and he takes it upon himself to go there and then it says it's self-defense. No. That acting job of the crying. I can't even look at it. That's one of the worst acting jobs I've ever seen.

Behar chuckled and the audience cheered for that cruel zinger.

After that merciless take, Sara Haines stepped in to make an argument against the 2nd Amendment and anti-abortion laws. "If you want to defend something, you need to be trained and you need to be in law enforcement or in the military. It's not up to the average citizen to take it upon themselves to arm them with an AR-15 of all weapons and go somewhere where you know there's a lot of people,” she stated, saying it was dangerous like Texas’s fetal heartbeat law.

But most of the talk was focused on disparaging Rittenhouse and even. Just like Behar has more sympathy for Fidel Castro, Whoopi Goldberg displayed more empathy for the Antifa mob who went after Rittenhouse, including convicted pedophile Joseph Rosenbaum. They even mocked his mother. "I have to correct something. The mother was not in the car with him...but she said I couldn’t be prouder of him. She’s a real beauty too," Behar scoffed.

"Did she say that to the parents of the two gentlemen he killed," Goldberg snarked.

Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro weighed in later to pull the race card and complain about conservatives. CNN Republican Navarro complained Rittenhouse had become a “hero to the right,” while Hostin fretted, “[H]e's become this right-wing cause celeb.”

While characterizing Rittenhouse as the villain, Hostin suggested that if he went free, right-wingers would have a license to go out and start shooting people “protesting” (click "expand"):

Well, you know, I just think that the outcome of this case will be a bellwether of where we are in this country, right, because these protests happened right after George Floyd's murder a couple of days after, because Jacob Blake was shot seven times by a white police officer and that's why people were out protesting and you know there was a conviction in the George Floyd case, we know just recently the capitol rioter was sentenced I tnk to three years for kicking a law enforcement officer in the head. And now we have this case, and so I wonder where the country is, because Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people, two were murdered, one was injured, $2 million cash bail was raised online for him, he's become sort of this, you know, right-wing star on his social media before he was tried...So I wonder if he's convicted of this, he now becomes a right-wing martyr, if he's freed it's a message to others like him that prison won't be in their future.

Equally nasty, Navarro sneered" “If he's free he'll end up in Congress, probably.” That terrified Hostin: “He could end up in Congress. What does that say about our values as a country?

The rest of the hosts agreed that if Rittenhouse had been a person of color he wouldn’t have received a fair trial or even made it home from the Kenosha riot.

Goldberg claimed Rittenhouse’s case was proof America was in an “insane asylum:”

Sometimes we're like an insane asylum in a way, we're seeing it, you know we're struggling in the middle of it now. Trying to re-acclimate all of us to what we're supposed to be as a nation and on Veterans day, when you think all the veterans who have given their lives to this country for the betterment of this country and then here comes this little boy with AR-15-type rifle who shoots three people, in kind of -- and open carry. In the midst of all of that.

To the anti-gun media, there's no legitimate reason for anyone to have a gun let alone defend themselves or property. Yet BLM and Antifa rioters can steal, destroy and attack others and are still presumed innocent.

[plays footage of Rittenhouse trial, “I didn’t do anything wrong, I was defending myself]

JOY BEHAR: Oh baloney.

[audience chuckles]

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: What did you think of the testimony? I know what you thought, Joy.

BEHAR: He goes across -- I mean, from what I'm gleaning from this case the guy goes across state lines with an AR-15, with his mother and some other idiot in the car to defend himself against what? They're having a protest in another state and he takes it upon himself to go there and then it says it's self-defense. No. That acting job of the crying. I can't even look at it. [audience applause] That's one of the worst acting jobs I've ever seen. [chuckles]

SARA HAINES: This is the problem with self-deputizing regular citizens. If you want to defend something, you need to be trained and you need to be in law enforcement or in the military. It's not up to the average citizen to take it upon themselves to arm them with an AR-15 of all weapons and go somewhere where you know there's a lot of people. That's not going to end well. It’s the same reason why When we look at attack Texas and these abortion laws I don't right now trust my fellow citizen to arm up and decide what I'm doing right and wrong. Don't empower people that way.

[applause]

ANA NAVARRO:...Look, Kyle Rittenhouse has become a hero to the right. Lot of people had a visceral reaction seeing him testify. Obviously they put him on the stand to emote and to do this. I think people have had a reaction about this because he hasn't shown that level of remorse in public about the killings. But look just one thing I want to say there was a 12-year-old black kid named Tamir rRice who got shot and killed because he had a toy gun, so I think a lot of people are looking at this case and wondering how it is possible that a 17-year-old can be roaming the streets with an AR-15 and be handed water?

[Agreement at table, audience]

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Well, you know, I'm keeping my lips closed.

JOY BEHAR:  I have to correct something. The mother was not in the car with him.

But she said I couldn’t be prouder of him.[scoffs] She’s a real beauty too.

GOLDBERG: Did she say that to the parents of the two gentlemen he killed?

BEHAR: No I don’t think so. [Chuckles]

SUNNY HOSTIN: Well, you know, I just think that the outcome of this case will be a bellwether of where we are in this country, right, because these protests happened right after George Floyd's murder a couple of days after, because Jacob Blake was shot seven times by a white police officer and that's why people were out protesting and you know there was a conviction in the George Floyd case, we know just recently the capitol rioter was sentenced I think to three years for kicking a law enforcement officer in the head. And now we have this case, and so I wonder where the country is, because Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people, two were murdered, one was injured, $2 million cash bail was raised online for him, he's become sort of this, you know, right-wing star on his social media before he was tried, before this trial, he had -- it's just strewn and decorated with blue lives matter, you know Trump paraphernalia.

...

HOSTIN: Yes. He was too young to buy that AR-style rifle. He actually had a friend purchase it. He lied to to the crowd told the crowd  he was an EMT when in fact he wasn’t . He actually testified that he's studying nursing at Arizona state university, he's not. He enrolled October 13th for an online program and that allows you to take classes before applying to the college. He also actually was too young to open carry in the state that he was open carrying and that's why he's charged with illegally open carrying. But all of that notwithstanding he's become this right-wing cause celeb. So I wonder if he's convicted of this, he now becomes a right-wing martyr, if he's freed it's a message to others like him that prison won't be in their future, and so I do wonder --

ANA NAVARRO: If he's free he'll end up in congress, probably

HOSTIN He could end up in congress. What does that say about our values as a country?

BEHAR They're screwed up right now.

GOLDERG The question of our values is ever-changing, sometimes we're on top of stuff and sometimes we're like an insane asylum in a way, we're seeing it, you know we're struggling in the middle of it now. Trying to reacclimate all of us to what we're supposed to be as a nation and on veterans day, when you think all the veterans who have given their lives to this country for the betterment of this country and then here comes this little boy with AR-15-type rifle who shoots three people, in kind of -- and open carry. In the midst of all of that.

Protecting property. Apparently what he was doing.

GOLDBERG: Not his property.

HOSTIN: It was a used car dealership. I think we need to make it clear the facts of the case. The first person he shot and murdered was chasing him and he testified to that. Now a group of people started chasing him after as he ran away, because they were yelling he's the active shooter, now he falls and he shoots another person who's chasing him because he just shot and killed someone, he also kills that person allegedly in self-defense and wounds a third person allegedly in self-defense.

GOLDBERG: Who's actually an EMT.

HOSTIN:  who’s actually an EMT. So I don't understand how you are defending yourself after murdering someone and those people are trying to catch you.

GOLDERG Well they let him go home. They let him go home. If I had done that --

BEHAR: Or any black person.

GOLDBERG:  Any black or brown person.

NAVARRO: If any black 17 year old boy had been Trolling the streets of Kenosha-

GOLDBERG: They wouldn't have given a glass of water.

...

GOLDBERG: If I made it to jail.

HOSTIN: He wouldn’t have been alive to stand trial. So I think it's very telling those who are defending the very premise that this was self-defense. Those who are saying that it's clear that he is, you know, a hero in this.
