Nets Tout Biden's Fiery SOTU, Scold GOP's 'Anger-Fueled Heckling'

February 8th, 2023 8:54 PM

The evening network broadcasts drooled all over themselves getting weak-kneed over President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address on Wednesday evening, describing it as “fiery” and touting Biden getting out on the road to lobby for what’s left of his agenda. Simultaneously, the three liberal networks scolded Congressional Republicans for what they described as “anger-fueled heckling.” Conveniently ignoring how Democrats have repeatedly done the same to then-President Donald Trump, and even tore up his speech on national television.

On ABC’s World News Tonight, senior White House correspondent and Biden spin doctor Mary Bruce touted how “in Wisconsin today, President Biden, again and again, calling out the anger-fueled heckling from Republicans at the State of the Union.”

“It was rowdy and contentious. Republicans erupting when the President accused them of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare,” Bruce added.

Bruce, narrating the night with the best possible spin for her friends in the Biden White House, hyped how “at one point, he had Republicans and Democrats nearly all standing to defend Social Security and Medicare, which was his point.”

Bruce framed the night as “Biden urg[ing] Republicans to work with him” and cried about how “they repeatedly heckled and jeered.”

Bruce ignored the fact that during multiple points in the speech, Biden purposefully taunted Republicans in the audience and said untrue things about them wanting to gut Social Security and Medicare which he knew would get a negative response.

Much was the case on CBS Evening News with White House correspondent Weijia Jiang whining that “Republicans interrupted Mr. Biden when he talked about stopping fentanyl from being trafficked across the southern border.”

There was no mention from Jiang about how Biden has done little to prevent fentanyl from pouring across the U.S.-Mexico border due to his open border policies. This isn’t surprising since CBS has previously whined about Texas being forced to take matters into its own hands to fix Biden’s border crisis.

NBC Nightly News, for their part, played good cop to ABC & CBS’s bad cop by calling out Biden’s dishonesty on the Social Security & Medicare issue.

NBC’s chief White House correspondent Kristen Welker fact-checked Biden: “the cuts were officially proposed by a single Republican Senator Rick Scott last year and rejected by other Republicans including GOP leaders.”

This pathetic display of state-run TV from ABC & CBS was made possible by ADT on ABC & United Healthcare on CBS. Their information is linked.

MARY BRUCE: In Wisconsin today, President Biden, again and again, calling out the anger-fueled heckling from Republicans at the State of the Union.

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Many of you have seen we've had a spirited debate last night with my Republican friends.

BRUCE: It was rowdy and contentious. Republicans erupting when the President accused them of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare.

BIDEN: Instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset. I am not saying that is a majority. Let me give you, anybody who doubts it, contact my office, I'll give you a copy of the proposal. That means Congress doesn't vote well, I'm glad to see. No, I tell ya, I enjoy conversion.

BRUCE: Seeing opportunity in the moment, the President then tried to get Republicans on the record.

BIDEN: So folks, as we all apparently agree, Social Security and Medicare is off the books now, right? They're not to be touched? All right. We got unanimity.

BRUCE: At one point, he had Republicans and Democrats nearly all standing to defend Social Security and Medicare, which was his point. Biden urged Republicans to work with him. But instead, they repeatedly heckled and jeered. On multiple occasions, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy even shushing his own members.
