Kimmel Praises Garland, Tells Gay Sex Joke About Barr Amid Doc Scandal

January 13th, 2023 10:45 AM

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel reacted on Thursday to day three of President Biden’s document scandal, in part, by declaring that the appointment of a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland shows how great Garland is and by making gay sex jokes about former Attorney General Bill Barr. Also on Thursday, NBC Late Night host Seth Meyers continued to insist comparisons with the former President Trump are “very silly.”

On the special counsel, Kimmel opined, “This morning, the attorney general, Merrick Garland, appointed a special counsel to look into all this. Merrick Garland, he's of course appointed by Biden, he's bending over backwards to make sure this is handled in an unbiased way.”

It is not as if Garland had much of a choice, but that did not stop Kimmel from contrasting him with Barr, “which is a refreshing change from Trump's Attorney General, William Barr, who used to bend over forwards when the president asked him to. And while there are significant differences between this situation with Biden and the 15 boxes of documents Tanny Soprano left laying around at his golf club and refused to give back, it's definitely embarrassing to Joe Biden and the gang at Fox News wasted no time rubbing it in.”

Apparently, gay sex “jokes” are okay when liberals do it.

Over at Late Night, Meyers was in the midst of his nightly rambling against conservatives, Republicans, and Fox News, when he declared, “Now, obviously this is not great for Biden, and he shouldn't have had those documents. Although, personally, I feel like finding a small number of classified documents at someone’s home or office is not a big deal, as long as they give them back. Which is true for Trump too. If Trump had just given back all the documents when he was asked, we would have had a problem and that's the difference, right?”

Meyers also claimed that, “Biden is cooperating fully, turning over all the documents immediately, looking for more.”

Apparently not “all” as they keep finding additional documents which is why they are “looking for more.” Still, Meyers claimed, “Trump refused to turn them over for more than a year after repeated requests, claims he can declassify them with his mind, lied about them, and even moved them around which is what led to the FBI search that discovered even more classified documents that Trump had refused to turn over which makes the GOP attempt draw a false equivalence between the two, very silly.”

Not nearly as silly as Meyers and Kimmel.

SETH MEYERS: Now, obviously this is not great for Biden, and he shouldn't have had those documents. Although, personally, I feel like finding a small number of classified documents at someone’s home or office is not a big deal, as long as they give them back. Which is true for Trump too. Biden is cooperating fully, turning over all the documents immediately, looking for more. Trump refused to turn them over for more than a year after repeated requests, claims he can declassify them with his mind, lied about them, and even moved them around which is what led to the FBI search that discovered even more classified documents that Trump had refused to turn over which makes the GOP attempt draw a false equivalence between the two, very silly.
