CNN Attacks Fox for Saying It's Wrong to Treat Parents Like Terrorists

October 9th, 2021 10:28 AM

On Friday, CNN Newsroom claimed to discover the real villain of Attorney General Merrick Garland's memo on "harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence" against local school boards: Fox News for pointing out the absurdity of it all and for defending those "angry parents."

Host Victor Blackwell declared that "This week we know that Attorney General Merrick Garland asked the FBI to address, as he calls them, angry parents. Since then, we've seen a spike in attention to this on Fox News." He then transitioned to a montage of FNC personalities condemning Garland:

TUCKER CARLSON: So, it's a propaganda operation funded by you out of the Department of so-called Justice… designed to tell teachers and school board members that when parents complain, it's domestic terrorism.

GREG GUTFELD: That's right. A mom yelling at school board members at a public meeting is the same as her dawning an explosive vest and blowing up a school.

KAYLEIGH McENANY: Parents have found their voice, and that is unacceptable to the Biden Administration. Parents are the problem.

After the montage, Blackwell asked podcast host and journalist Mara Schiavocampo, "What's this about?"

Doing her best Terry McAuliffe impression, she said parents have no right to complain: "Well, let's be clear about something. The parents will say this is about choice, this is about choice. These parents have choice. They can spend the money to send their children to a private school where the school aligns more with their personal beliefs and values. They can dedicate the time and resources to home schooling their children."

After assuming that everybody has enough money to send their kids to private school, Schiavocampo added: "What this is about are public health measures that have been put in place for the greater good, and it's worth noting that right now, that right in most school districts there are at least ten vaccine mandates. Everything from polio to hepatitis that have been in place forever. Those who are protesting right now likely had to get all of those vaccines."

Outside the U.S., masking children is not considered settled science. As for other vaccines, that is a bad analogy. Those vaccines have been around for a long time, whereas the COVID ones are not yet under emergency authorization for children.

Blackwell agreed, "Yeah. Every month Fox News comes up with once it was Mr. Potato Head, and then it was Dr. Seuss, and then it was wokeness and now it’s this angry parents element."

In his attempt to agree with Schiavocampo, Blackwell actually undermined her point. Even if you were to remove masks and COVID vaccine mandates, you would still have very real concerns about Critical Race Theory, left-wing ideas about gender and sexuality, and more.

VICTOR BLACKWELL: If you have a problem with the policy, as we’ve seen, you can take it to the policy makers, but to shout at the children and their parents as they're walking to school doesn't help them at all. This week we know that Attorney General Merrick Garland asked the FBI to address, as he calls them, angry parents. Since then, we've seen a spike in attention to this on Fox News. Here's what we're seeing.

TUCKER CARLSON: So, it's a propaganda operation funded by you out of the Department of so-called Justice… designed to tell teachers and school board members that when parents complain it's domestic terrorism.

BLACKWELL: What's this about?

MARA SCHIAVOCAMPO: Well, let's be clear about something. You know, the parents will say this is about choice, this is about choice. These parents have choice. They can spend the money to send their children to a private school where the school aligns more with their personal beliefs and values. They can dedicate the time and resources to home schooling their children. What this is about are public health measures that have been put in place for the greater good, and it's worth noting that right now, that right in most school districts there are at least ten vaccine mandates. Everything from polio to hepatitis that have been in place forever. Those who are protesting right now likely had to get all of those vaccines.

BLACKWELL: We had to get them

SCHIAVOCAMPO: We had to get them, to go to school.

BLACKWELL: Yeah

SCHIAVOCAMPO: Nobody had a problem until now. Now it's been politicized. Now it's about power and control.

BLACKWELL: Yeah. Every month Fox News comes up with once it was Mr. Potato Head, and then it was Dr. Suess, and then it was wokeness and now it’s this angry parents element.
