NewsGuard Calls Rumble ‘Hoax Central’ After CEO Called Hunter Biden Laptop a ‘Hoax’

Leftist internet traffic cop NewsGuard is in no position to be throwing around the “hoax” label when its own CEO tried to dismiss the Hunter Biden laptop scandal as a “hoax.” It's a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

NewsGuard released a new self-serving report headlined: “Making YouTube Look Good: Rumble Becomes Hoax Central Ahead of the Midterms.” NewsGuard's primary complaint was that Rumble doesn’t abide by NewsGuard’s leftist ratings system like censorship-obsessed YouTube does:

“In search results, Rumble pushes twice as many sites rated untrustworthy by NewsGuard as YouTube,” which is laughable in the face of a December 2021 MRC study that showed outlets rated “left” or “lean left” by AllSides getting an average NewsGuard score of 93/100, while sites that AllSides considered “right” or “lean right” scored an abysmal average NewsGuard rating of 66/100.

This is the same NewsGuard whose CEO Steven Brill claimed before the 2020 elections that the Hunter Biden laptop scandal reported by the New York Post was a Russian “hoax.”

The New York Times and others would later verify the authenticity of the laptop’s contents.

But, whined NewsGuard, “Rumble frequently pushes videos from untrustworthy sources that traffic in election misinformation.” It continued: “When NewsGuard conducted a series of Rumble searches related to the 2022 midterm elections, nearly half of the search results — 47.5 percent, or 95 out of 200 — came from sources rated Red by NewsGuard for being untrustworthy.”

NewsGuard still maintains the perfect 100/100 scores for outlets like Politico, The Washington Post, Axios and USA Today, which all interfered in the 2020 election by trying to bury the Biden family scandal as some kind of disinformation operation.

NewsGuard’s analysis continued to get worse. NewsGuard’s blacklist for “Red-rated” “conservative” accounts that it complained were promoted on Rumble included: The Dan Bongino Show, Steve Bannon’s War Room, and comedian Steven Crowder’s Louder with Crowder. “[These accounts] have a combined 4.2 million subscribers on Rumble, and their videos regularly accrue thousands — if not hundreds of thousands — of views. NewsGuard sent two emails and left a phone message with Rumble in November 2022, asking about its prioritization of search results tied to Red-rated websites and its handling of misinformation, but did not receive a response.”

An MRC Free Speech America study of YouTube — which NewsGuard champions in its comparison report to Rumble —  Facebook and Twitter allow authoritarian Russia and Communist China to have 33 and 106 active state-affiliated accounts respectively across the three platforms. The social media accounts collectively made up a whopping 902,721,143 followers as of Sept. 27, 2022.

This is the same Communist China is conducting an ethnic-based “genocide” against the Uyghur Muslims, is actively running an authoritarian surveillance state and is also reportedly starving its own people under “zero-Covid” policies. Meanwhile, Russia is in an ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.

And yet, according to NewsGuard, it is Rumble — not YouTube, Facebook or Twitter — that should be labeled “hoax central,” apparently because Americans have opinions that differ from the leftist narrative.

What a joke.
