CPI's Bovard Slams Big Tech for Censoring Now-Credible COVID-19 ‘Misinformation’

Conservative Partnership Institute (CPI) senior director of policy Rachel Bovard called out social media platforms on Twitter for their censorship of alleged COVID-19 “misinformation,” pointing to needed action now that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) admitted some of what has been heretofore considered “misinformation” by Big Tech is actually true.

CPI is a nonprofit that works to help politicians and advocates become more effective at promoting conservative values.

Bovard slammed Big Tech recently for trying to restrict and disallow free speech online. “Speech, as such, is no longer allowed on the [Big Tech] platforms. Just correct speech,” Bovard said. Today, Bovard called out Big Tech platforms that have censored or banned individuals for so-called COVID-19 “misinformation” that has since been shown to be credible.

Bovard tweeted a thread about recent developments in CDC talking points. “Curious if social media companies are going to un-ban all the people they banned for saying all the things the CDC is now confirming as true,” Bovard said. “Or does the ratchet only work one way. Or were none of those bans actually about COVID misinformation to begin with.” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky admitted, for instance, on CNN that "Our vaccines are working exceptionally well. They continue to work well for Delta with regard to severe illness and death. They prevent it, but what they can't do anymore is prevent transmission."

Big Tech has censored many prominent figures for so-called COVID-19 “misinformation,” including mRNA vaccine inventor Dr. Robert Malone, whom Twitter banned for alleged COVID-19 “harmful information.” Facebook gave into pressure from President Joe Biden’s White House in August and began censoring so-called COVID-19 “misinformation” more, particularly targeting a list of 12 people said to spread over 60 percent of alleged COVID-19 “misinformation” online.
