Hollywood Rarity: ‘Twilight’ Actress Calls Unborn Baby a ‘Miracle’

As the Hollywood world celebrates abortion, one Twilight actress is challenging the narrative – by promoting the “miracle” of unborn life.

29-year-old Nikki Reed graced the September cover of Fit Pregnancy while discussing, inside, the pregnancy of her first child with husband Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries). From calling her unborn baby a “miracle” to crediting pregnancy for making her a “better version of myself,” Reed emerged as a Hollywood rarity.

As her August due date approaches, Reed is enjoying every moment of pregnancy.

“Being pregnant gave me instant perspective,” she admitted. “Pregnancy is the moment you find your path and do what you want, when you want, how you want.”

For Reed, that included launching her “dream” fashion company, Bayou with Love. She’s also working on a music album.

“Writing and recording this entire album with this baby in my belly has been the most beautiful experience,” she wrote on Instagram last week. “One thing I know for sure, this child is going to love music.” Video below.

But while Reed is surrounded by new projects, she says it’s pregnancy that makes her a “better version of myself.”

That includes how she views her body.

“As an actress, I’m surrounded by chatter about my body,” she said. “I’ve always rebelled against that, but being pregnant has given me this new and powerful appreciation for my body.”

Reed described her pregnant body as “so f*cking cool.”

“Why do I suddenly have this layer of fat? Oh, it’s because my body needs to create breast milk,” she explained. “Why am I hungry and thirsty? Because my body is creating amniotic fluid.”

For the unborn baby’s part, he or she already seems ready to fit into Reed’s active lifestyle. While group meditating, Reed revealed, “I lie there trying not to laugh, because it’s party time in my belly. The baby moves around so much!”

"It’s a crazy miracle to feel this kid moving,” she told Fit Pregnancy.

After the baby’s birth, Reed and Somerhalder plan to devote themselves to their little one.

“After the baby arrives, we’re doing one month of silence. Just the three of us, no visitors, and we’re turning off our phones too, so there’s no expectation for us to communicate,” Reed said. “You don’t get those first 30 days back, and we want to be fully present.”

Reed also revealed how she found out she was pregnant:

I’m an early bird and took the pregnancy test before dawn. I didn’t have my glasses or contacts and I can’t see without them. I was squinting, thinking, ‘Are there any more lines?’ I yelled to Ian, ‘Get up!’ He ran into the bathroom, read the test, and we were so excited. We watched the sun come up together, just thinking, ‘Wow, we’re going to have a baby.’

In a video for Fit Pregnancy, Reed concluded that the experience was “exciting.”

“[H]aving a child puts everything in perspective, right?” she said. “And it gives you the opportunity to slow down and think about what you want to do, and take the time to go camping and do all the things that made you happy as a kid because you want to do that for your child.”

Back in May, the celebrity couple first publicized the pregnancy on Instagram, asking, “How is it possible to love someone so much already?”

The sweet couple married in 2015.
