ABC’s New Spinoff ‘9-1-1 Nashville’ Demonstrates Miraculous Power of ‘Hail Mary’ Prayer

At a time when Hollywood has been ramping up its hatred towards Catholicism, and the left keeps mocking “thoughts and prayers,” it was refreshing to see a production actually portray the Catholic faith and the power of prayer in a positive light. Such was the case with ABC’s new 911 spinoff 9-1-1 Nashville as the firefighters attempted a dangerous rescue on a water tower during a severe thunderstorm in episode two, “Hell and High Water,” which aired on October 16.

Stuart (Adhir Kalyan) is a tourist in the city, freshly jilted by his bride-to-be and taking his honeymoon solo. His hotel warned him a severe storm would be rolling in, but Stuart rented a self-guided scooter tour anyway.

As the storm hit faster than he expected, a tornado propelled him into a water tower, impaling him through the chest. First responders faced a dangerous rescue as a lightning storm quickly approached.

When the team reached Stuart, lightning flashed all around them. Stuart did something we rarely see in Hollywood anymore. At least not in a positive way. He asked one of the rescuers, Roxie (Juani Feliz) to pray with him.

She agreed and they begin praying the Hail Mary together, at which point, the lightning storm miraculously passed over :

Stuart: Will you pray with me, please?

Roxie: Hold tight, Blue! Hold tight!

Stuart: Hail Mary...

Stuart/Roxie: full of grace, the Lord is with thee…

Cap: Come on, son.

Stuart/Roxie: Pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.

Ryan: It passed us!

Blue: It passed over!

After another near-catastrophe was averted, they got Stuart safely to the ground and he was expected to make a full recovery. Such a powerful scene, especially for Catholics who finally received the respect they deserve in Hollywood.

This moment stood as a testament to courage, faith, and the strength of community in the face of overwhelming odds. By uniting in prayer and action, the characters not only conquered danger but also reaffirmsz the importance of hope and solidarity.

Their journey remindsus that even in our darkest hours, resilience, prayer and compassion illuminate the path forward.

Kudos to 9-1-1 Nashville. Let’s hope they stay the course and continue to provide quality entertainment everyone can enjoy.
