The president of George Soros’s Open Society Foundations finally pulled the mask off and showcased to the world why the empire she works for is hostile to Israel and openly funding groups that celebrated Hamas’s carnage on October 7, 2023.
Binaifer Nowrojee outlandishly smeared Israel for supposedly using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinians in an Aug. 15 op-ed for the powerful Soros-funded global publication Project Syndicate.
Completely ignoring the reported 183,000 tons of aid that Israel let into Gaza since May 2025, Nowrojee propped up a straw man and let loose: “By intentionally withholding food and other basic essentials despite glaring evidence of widespread hunger and malnourishment in Gaza, Israel has taken its war well into the realm of criminality.” This kind of asinine slander plastered onto the Soros-backed Project Syndicate should concern every American who cherishes the shared heritage with the people of Israel.
Soros pumping at least $1,532,105 into Project Syndicate’s coffers between 2016 and 2020 and writing over 115 columns for the publication since 1997 just scratches the surface. The leftist outlet boasts how it is active in 156 countries, works with 543 media outlets around the world and has its columns translated into 66 languages, and had its columns published 16,904 times in 2024 alone, emphasizing its enormous global reach and why the Soros machine would want its anti-Israel propaganda to be disseminated on such a worldwide scale.
“There is a growing consensus that Israel is committing the most serious of crimes in Gaza, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare,” Nowrojee spewed. After making a passing reference to the massacre terrorist organization Hamas unleashed on October 7, 2023 and the hostages they captured, Nowrojee twisted the events that followed to further accuse that “[t]he population of Gaza was dehumanized, and no distinction was made between civilians and combatants – a violation of a cardinal rule of international humanitarian law.”
This is a blatant lie that Hamas had been peddling since the war started. UN Watch noted that the numbers that Hamas puts out about civilian deaths itself “does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.” Did Nowrojee mention that? Nope.
In fact, “according to the IDF, ‘the number of combatants killed during the first six months of the war is far higher, around 14,000, which translates to a civilian to combatant ratio of less than 2 civilians for every 1 combatant killed. While all civilian casualties in war are tragic, this ratio is better than in other recent urban conflicts where the average is 1 combatant to 9 civilians according to the UN.’” Not to mention that Israel had issued repeated warnings through multiple channels for the Gaza population to evacuate the area prior to military operations taking place.
Nowhere did Nowrojee concede that Hamas has widely used its own people as human shields, has largely stolen from aid that was sent into Gaza, and has shot civilians who have attempted to flee Gaza.
But Nowrojee did take care to rebuke countries who weren’t doing enough to condemn Israel and continue arguing her strawman:
Palestinians are being intentionally starved to death. Although signs of the coming horrors were clear within months of the war’s onset, many governments averted their eyes. They rationalized the restrictions on aid by arguing that it was going to Hamas – a claim that Israel now says it has no evidence for – and transferred more tonnage in weapons to Israel than they delivered in aid to Gaza. Now, they are failing in their duty to prevent and stop a genocide.”
But United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated in a fierce rebuttal on X to attempts by international NGOs to accuse Israel of initiating some kind of Gazan Holodomor, “You know who IS starving? The hostages kidnapped and tortured by uncivilized Hamas savages.” He continued: “Maybe the over fed terrorists could share some of their warehouse full they stole with hungry people, especially the hostages.”

But what more can be expected from an organization that funds pro-Hamas organizations? The Soros empire was caught by MRC and others fueling a litany of groups that celebrated the actual genocidal carnage Hamas inflicted on the Israeli population October 7, 2023, that resulted in about 1,300 Israeli citizens slaughtered and hundreds taken hostage over the Gaza Strip, a number of which remain there to this day. In fact, Soros himself wrote an op-ed in 2007 demanding that both the United States and Israel “open the door to Hamas” at the negotiating table. Nowrojee’s predecessor, Mark Malloch-Brown, disturbingly urged in a November 2023 interview that “Hamas must be a party” to any negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

In fact, MRC discovered that OSF itself wouldn’t even release a statement on its “Newsroom” webpage condemning Hamas until nearly a month after the October 7 attack.
If there’s anyone least qualified to masquerade as a voice of morality in the Israel-Hamas war, it’s a spokeswoman for the anti-Israel Soros empire.
