The “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC were hard pressed for time on Monday night to comment on speeches at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) by Senators Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (Vt.), but there was time after First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech to gush over her “artfully painted” address featuring “trademark...grace” in attacking Donald Trump.

Following the highly anticipated DNC speech by First Lady Michelle Obama on Monday, CNN’s Anderson Cooper called out Political Commentator Van Jones for crying during the speech. “Well I mean, first of all, if you weren't moved by that, go see the doctor,” he responded. Chris Matthews on Monday could barely restrain his excitement at the Democratic National Convention, declaring it a “sluggers row of wonderful sentiment.” Who did the MSNBC host love more? He could barely decide. Matthews cheered, “I think the Democrats's first night may turn out to be more successful than the Republicans's last night. I thought it had a lot of charm and happiness.” 

Sarah Silverman may be a comic known for using the words “fag,” “retarded” and calling Jesus fictional, but the journalists at MSNBC were absolutely entranced over her speech on Monday to the Democratic Convention. At one point, Silverman admonished the Bernie Sanders crowd for being reluctant to support Hillary Clinton: “Can I just say to the Bernie or bust people, you're being ridiculous.” 

In the short time between speeches during Monday’s primetime schedule of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), CNN and MSNBC went out of their way to absolutely swoon over Senator Cory Booker’s speech that they deemed “brilliant,” “a home run,” and “powerful” that the assembled pundits claim they hadn’t seen since then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama at the 2004 DNC. 

CNN Political Commentator Van Jones, who on the first day of Republican convention decried it as a “hate-fest,” praised the Democratic convention’s tone on illegal immigration on Monday. “What I saw last week, whenever you talked about immigration, it was almost a criminalization of that whole community,” Jones stated, “Tonight you're seeing a humanization of that community.” Most of the Anderson…

Despite the resignation of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, as well as a cascade of booing, MSNBC journalists touted the Democratic convention as “fun” and “exciting.” Host Rachel Maddow basically told Sanders supporters to stop whining. But first, Brian Williams insisted, “This won't be [like the Republican convention in] Cleveland, but it won't be boring.”

Closing out Monday’s NBC Nightly News at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), national correspondent Peter Alexander found it pertinent to heap effusive praise on far-left activist and illegal immigrant Astrid Silva being able to address the DNC as someone “living the American Dream” but “all you’re missing is being an American” because she came across the U.S. border illegally.

Longtime Democratic operative Donna Brazile being named interim head of the Democratic National Committee on Sunday following the ouster of chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz amid the DNC e-mail scandal created some awkward moments for CNN and ABC.
