Several times this week, MSNBC host Brian Williams has used his primetime show to hype Twitter comments by MSNBC contributor Steve Schmidt in which the bitter former Republican slammed federal agents in Portland as "jackbooted thugs" and "stormtroopers." In 1995, the NRA was trashed for using the phrase "jackbooted thugs" in a fundraising letter. The script has flipped.
